Anyone know what the plan for the Hillsborough Hike is this year for halloween? 10/12/2010 10:06:46 AM |
wdprice3 BinaryBuffonary 45912 Posts user info edit post |
Yes.
1) Dress up 2) Go to Hillsborough Street 3) Go into bar and drink 4) After finishing a drink, go to next bar 5) Repeat as necessary.
IT IS ON FRIDAY, LIKE EVERY DAMN HIKE (OCT. 29TH).] 10/12/2010 10:08:16 AM |

yeah, some people say it is on halloween, and others say it is friday
if you want bar specials and the larger crowd, go on Friday... if you want to be a "non-comformist" and go on actual halloween, go on Sunday
the first haunted hike I went on was actually during the week... all the rest have been on the weekend 10/12/2010 10:13:33 AM |

the halloween one wasn't last weekend. I've heard it's Fri, Sat, and Sun and can't find anything on facebook---just trying to clarify which day it is on. 10/12/2010 12:27:23 PM |

so, it is on Friday? I plan on sitting somewhere and watching people in costume. Preferably hot girls in skimpy shit which always happens. Go ahead and bitch at me for not dressing up but I will get what I want out of it so whatever. 10/14/2010 11:37:12 AM |

i dunno if i'm doing this or not. haven't done it in a few years. hikes kinda make me feel old as shit.

this may very well be the first year i've ever been even remotely excited about halloween...

I'm still wondering about which day it is--haven't found anything to confirm Friday. Shakedown Street has posted a facebook event (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=103036469763899&ref=ts), but it looks like they're trying to self-promote the bar, and it might not be the true Halloween Hike. Hoping someone can confirm the day... 10/16/2010 7:18:02 PM |

For what its worth I know Chapel Hill is shutting down Franklin Street to traffic on the actual day of Halloween (Sunday) which makes it easy to remember and intuitive to figure out for newbies, just as they have done in years past with Saturday last year and Friday the year before that.
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=2213632833 This old facebook group, with 340 members, says "Halloween on Hillsborough Street" which maybe implies the day of on Sunday, but the most recent post is pushing a Saturday event:
And the group bmscully found says Saturday. And of course a few ppl have said in this thread it might be Friday.
So I must agree with cptinsano, better to dress up all weekend, just to be sure.
Also, someone should write up and submit a story to tdub for the front page about the Haunted Halloween Hike on Hillsborough. 10/17/2010 5:01:12 AM |

Why not make this easy?
Celebrate on Friday and Saturday, and if you're felling extra festive, celebrate on Sunday.
I don't understand why you guys are complicating this. It's not like we're bound by some imaginary rule that says we can't get drunk and dress and act stupid only once a year. 10/17/2010 5:08:33 AM |

Saturday night. I took some pics but not worth posting. IMO it was kind of generic costumes. No one stood out like past years. 11/1/2010 4:42:42 PM |

I was out there sat and it was lame. That is what you get for not having it ON FUCKING HALLOWEEN. Fuck the moving holidays because it isn't convenient. 11/1/2010 6:53:06 PM |

For the next 3 years Halloween will be on a weekday which is worse than a Sunday. A Sat tradition starting now might be beneficial in the long run (in 2012 for example it'll be on a Wednesday). Although I see the obvious merit of having it on Halloween itself. 11/1/2010 7:02:46 PM |

gotta agree with wdprice.... if the regular hike is on Friday, have it on Friday.. problem solved
then on actual Halloween night, it's not like Raleigh doesn't have like, ya know, a downtown area or anything.. or any other bars
now for trick-or-treating, keep that shit on Halloween 11/2/2010 10:03:35 AM |

You could go and not drink to the point of it being an issue the next day. I thought drinking to the point of having a raging hangover was the realm of college students. 11/2/2010 10:13:55 AM |

Though I agree with your point -- if you don't want to be stupid hungover, don't get stupid drunk. 11/2/2010 10:15:39 AM |

or, i can drink as much as i want to on saturday night when the majority of people go out and have a good time and spend the whole day sunday recovering. sounds like you people are just too lazy to ask around and figure out which day the hike is on. 11/2/2010 10:18:22 AM |
