The shootings began about 10:30 a.m. October 5 at a construction site near Beecher, Illinois. The gunman killed one worker at the site and wounded two others, police have said. An hour later and about 10 miles away in Lowell, Indiana, authorities believe the same gunman opened fire again -- this time on a local farmer. Keith Dahl was shot in the left shoulder, arm and elbow, and then was robbed. Dahl told Lake County (Indiana) Sheriff's Detective Robert Martinez that the gunman approached him on his farm and started a conversation about bees before beginning to shoot. The gunman was believed to be using a revolver -- possibly a Colt .38-caliber or .357 Magnum -- because no shell casings were found at either scene, Lake County Sheriff Rogelio "Roy" Dominguez said."

^^ yea! i instant watched it over the summer. it was REALLY good. really heartbreaking (even for me and i was co-pres of the innocence project in law school...i mean i know how screwed up things are, and it still upsets me) but i think everyone who is complacent with the justice system should be forced to watch it.

YEARS are not small change. and then when you get out you might not even get the same benefits as convicted criminals. once you are exonerated, in some states you aren't eligible for the state sponsored convict rehabilitation programs (and job training/placement programs). and when you are exonerated none of the DAs that prosecuted you are waiting around for you to say "sorry" or "whoops" or even "my bad, yo"

And for what it's worth, most of the good cops are often complicit in what the bad cops do.
For every "a cop died" story out there, there should be two "a good cop turned in a bad cop" stories.

Also, one might point out that when an innocent cop is jailed, the justice system and law enforcement may pay a little more attention to other non-cop claims of convicted innocent people.
