Damn if that shit can happen to a cop it can happen to anyone. I am going to post from TWW at all times so I have an alibi.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/12/indiana.illinois.shootings/index.html?hpt=Sbin

Quote :
"(CNN) -- A police officer jailed on a first-degree murder charge in a two-state shooting rampage was on his computer at the time of shootings and could not have committed them, prosecutors said Tuesday evening.

Brian E. Dorian, 37, was to be released on his own recognizance Tuesday night, and charges against him will be formally dismissed Wednesday, Will County State's Attorney James W. Glasgow announced.

"I feel horrible that Brian Dorian went through this," said Glasgow, adding that evidence at the time and identification in lineups merited the charges. "At no time did we stop looking for exculpatory evidence."

A forensic analysis of Dorian's home computer and its activity put Dorian at home at the time of the shootings, authorities said. The officer also told them he was watching sports programs and using e-mail.

John Dorian, the officer's father, told CNN affiliate WLS he was "relieved" and "never doubted his son."

Police now are looking at other leads in the shootings.

Earlier in the day, Dorian appeared in court via a hookup from the Will County Jail. He did not speak but his attorney entered a not guilty plea, WLS reported.

Several friends and relatives wore T-shirts bearing the message "Free Brian."

"There's an innocent man sitting behind bars and somebody else is running around out there knowing that he got away with it. It's not fair," Jill Aggen, a friend of Dorian, told WLS. "No doubt in my mind. He's not capable of it."

Dorian, an officer with the Lynwood Police Department, was arrested Friday in the killing of one person and the wounding of three others in the spree, which occurred south of Chicago, Illinois.

He was held on a probable cause warrant, and bail was set at $2.5 million.

Dorian, who according to WLS has been on medical leave for an injured shoulder the past year, was taken into custody Friday at his residence, said authorities.

The shootings began about 10:30 a.m. October 5 at a construction site near Beecher, Illinois. The gunman killed one worker at the site and wounded two others, police have said.

An hour later and about 10 miles away in Lowell, Indiana, authorities believe the same gunman opened fire again -- this time on a local farmer. Keith Dahl was shot in the left shoulder, arm and elbow, and then was robbed.

Dahl told Lake County (Indiana) Sheriff's Detective Robert Martinez that the gunman approached him on his farm and started a conversation about bees before beginning to shoot.

The gunman was believed to be using a revolver -- possibly a Colt .38-caliber or .357 Magnum -- because no shell casings were found at either scene, Lake County Sheriff Rogelio "Roy" Dominguez said."

I bet he never uses the cop favorite phrase again "YOU'LL HAVE YOUR DAY IN COURT!"

Who cares! He's guilty of murdering our rights as Americans just for being a cop, and as such should be executed at the first opportunity!

^^ yea! i instant watched it over the summer. it was REALLY good. really heartbreaking (even for me and i was co-pres of the innocence project in law school...i mean i know how screwed up things are, and it still upsets me) but i think everyone who is complacent with the justice system should be forced to watch it.

and yeah, this sucks. I sometimes sit and wonder what I'd do if they randomly came and arrested me for something I didn't do.

what if your were convicted. and then imprisoned. for 20 years?

scary, scary shit. YEARS are not small change. and then when you get out you might not even get the same benefits as convicted criminals. once you are exonerated, in some states you aren't eligible for the state sponsored convict rehabilitation programs (and job training/placement programs). and when you are exonerated none of the DAs that prosecuted you are waiting around for you to say "sorry" or "whoops" or even "my bad, yo"

ugh! haha. stuff like this gets me worked up. whewwww.

I KNOW!!! if you watch that documentary, after innocence, OR speak with someone who has been locked up and then exonerated, its so crazy how NOT mad they are. i guess they spend a lot of time getting over it in prison and accepting it, but most of them aren't even mad. they just want to get on with their lives.

i'd be SO livid.

Why does everyone try to troll me with straw-man bullshit?
[Good] cops are an essential part of the government's role of protecting our person, property and rights.
I've called 911 before, and may need to again.
But if you call out one [bad] cop, and comment on other [bad] cops, then all of a sudden:

"Who cares! He's guilty of murdering our rights as Americans just for being a cop, and as such should be executed at the first opportunity!" -AndyMac
(AndyMac thinks that all cops should be raped and murdered. Also, I heard AndyMac admit that he's a terrorist and eats babies.)

LOL at JD making the news!

Quote :
"must be nice to be a cop. Get free money for a hurt shoulder."

Must be nicer to be an athlete and get paid $15M to sit at home with a bum shoulder.

^ probably has something to do with quotes like this:

Quote :
"Shit like that is why I don't shed a tear when I read in the news that a cop died."

I mean maybe you want to distinguish and not just say "a cop" because really that looks like ANY cop, good or bad.

[Edited on October 14, 2010 at 9:06 AM. Reason : also, it kind of makes you look like a prick]

quagmire02 actually thinks that cops should be murdered. What a great guy.

^^
Not shedding a tear is not the same as enjoying. I don't take pleasure in it.
And for what it's worth, most of the good cops are often complicit in what the bad cops do.
For every "a cop died" story out there, there should be two "a good cop turned in a bad cop" stories.

Also, one might point out that when an innocent cop is jailed, the justice system and law enforcement may pay a little more attention to other non-cop claims of convicted innocent people.

Source? I would like to know how rampant corruption in the police force is these days.

And breaking up a party is NOT corruption since noise violations are code and not some rogue cops trying to kill fun... no matter how much I think those laws are retarded.

Thinking a fellow cop might be crooked and knowing that fact are two different things. Falsely accusing a co-worker of being corrupt is not only morally reprehensible, it will KILL a career.

^ that's what it boils down to. And frankly, as someone who saw first hand how a major city absolutely transformed itself from a shithole to one of the best cities in the world due to hard work (and a lot of good police work), I have a deep respect for police.

Not true.
But you, on the other hand, think that all brown people are terrorists, that 12-year-olds should be able to consent to sex, and that people who speed while driving shouldn't be able to serve in the military. I mean, you're a pretty sick dude, and yet, instead of seeking help, you troll people for fun.

^
No doubt... I'm talking about when they know or strongly suspect, but do nothing.
Because even non-falsely accusing a co-worker of being corrupt might kill a career, if you're a cop.
