before the first name scrolls to the top of the screen during the credits
back in the day, you'd have a good chunk of the audience wait till the very end, eating their cold popcorn and sipping on empty cups of soda, getting their money's worth
i used to clean theaters and some would even be there when we come in to clean to have a chat about the movie

now as soon as the movie is over, all you see are lights of cell phones all over the place and everyone running out like there's a fire

Back in the day, movie theaters were some of the only air-conditioned public places.
You'd watch movies all day just to beat the heat.

Unless I knew that there was some kind of extra scene after the credits I've never waited through the credits. Why the fuck would I wanna sit there and read the names of tons of people I don't know and will likely never meet?

^Yeah, I'd wonder more about the people that had to obsessively sit through the credits.

I can understand not trampling people to get out as soon as the credits roll, but why not leave?

I can understand people wanting to see whether there's something after the credits, but if you know there isn't anything afterward or don't care whether there's anything why stay?

I heard that if you stay through all of the credits, you have to watch the movie again but this time there are many more enemies to beat and you get to pick which level you want to start on.

this day and age, even if there is something at the end after the credits, it will be up on youtube, so you can see it without having to wait

Maybe they're used to Red Box and are scared that they'll be charged an extra dollar if they stay longer.

Lets see...I can sit in my seat comfortably and relax, enjoying the music, etc...
OR, I can stand in the aisle as the sheep slowly progress out of the theater, waiting for them to dig the popcorn out of their ass as they stand in my way while they text and update their Facebook with the latest development. Yeah, I think Ill just wait here.

I figure if I enjoyed a movie enough, I could at least sit another few minutes and watch the credits.

Of course, if I think a movie sucks, I'll probably leave before the credits are even on anyone's mind

at any given moment, I'm usually thinking "This sucks....I'm ready to get the fuck out of here"

leaving a movie early is just one more manifestation of this

I like the after credit scenes.....

They are like the secret song at the end of a cd. just a little easter egg for everyone to enjoy if they wish.

no one was loookking, i was thinking of you.... i was all by myself and.... i was all by myself.

who doesn't like that shit?

Cause of you impatient folks, i think they'll start running credits at the beginning of the movie, and movie trailers at the end

If you are interested in who took part in the creation of the film, then you go to IMDB.com and check it out. If it is special effects, fight choreography, editing, dp, or sound, you probably know who it is already, and that's part of the reason why you are there.

I do hang out for a minute, but a bad knee and a lack of desire to be crunched in with 120 fatties with nuclear butter breath and half-drunken 3-gallon sodas that act like they are Roger Ebert force me to wait a few minutes.

I hate it when I'm in the middle of the row because I got there on time and there is a small group of dedicated losers on each side of me who want to sit through the fucking credits and block the way to the stairs.

I usually pick the thinnest herd and crop dust the hell out of them as I pass. I don't even try to silence it anymore.

hey now, just think about
the credits would be seen by everyone, plus the last thing paying customers would see would be advertisements for their possible next movie

as a marketer i think it makes sense

IMDB exists.

Aside from movies where I feel the need to decompress afterwards and movies I know will have shit after the credits, I generally head out.

someone hasn't seen many old movies

I mean hell, there were mostly just opening credits in the US before the 70s

yes, put the previews at the end makes the most sense clearly. it's not like people would just leave the theater after the movie ends and skip watching the previews or anything.

what they ought to do is pause with 15 minutes left in the movie and show all kinds of previews and advertisements THEN. that would surely be effective!

Indian movies have intermissions in them, so we always put trailers on the beginning of the second half of the film.

But yeah, playing them after the film is dumb.

i'll stay if it's a comedy that will likely have shenanigans after the credits or if i really like the score during the credits. otherwise, i'm out.
