On the news the other day some guy was talking about the fair rides and how N.C. was the only state except Georgia that requires rides to be certified 100 percent safe by checking every nut and bolt before they are opened (or something like that). Then he started talking about how the rides have always been safe and "we hope, no, we know, we will continue that record this year."

I was wondering if he'd ever actually been to the fair.

I enjoyed watching my friends ride... then letting them know what unsafe points I found... few pins missing in a few rides, a screw or 2 that looked like they had been sheared off by misuse, and other things...

my dad used to run the rides for the company that did the rides a few years back and he showed me what to look for before getting on a ride...

i avoided getting stuck!!

I wonder how long it took to get it unstuck. When I walked away they had leaned a ladder against the right side big pole and were taking turns trying to pull this big ass lever.

All four guys that were working on it had this oh shit look on their face, as did the people who were hanging sideways.
