you don't think the failing economy is the result of unsustainable economic policies and massive deficit spending on the part of the Republicans during the Bush presidency?

its not like it just suddenly happened the moment we elected a black guy

^^ the tea partiers I know are upset about a number of things and I'm sympathetic to a lot of their concerns - I just worry that their desire for mass deregulation might be taken advantage of by the hyper-wealthy in order to make a buck, yet again, on the backs of the working class. I also find the religious zealotry that you sometimes see among that group more than a little distasteful

I am pretty sure the Tea Partiers are against ANY taxation (read: enabling government spending), regardless of the side of the aisle.

Most of the tea parties were started as a way to voice opinions on FairTax.

This is mostly true, yes.

But it is misleading to suggest that these groups were started as grass roots organizations by and for the middle class. They are actually VERY well funded NGOs seeking to influence public opinion in ways that benefit extremely wealthy conservative organizations. (Especially the Koch family.)

^thats because no one has told them what to say to that question. My guess it will be the tax cuts for the rich (which somehow now people are starting to understand went to everyone) or "deregulations man..." but you can ask which deregulations and you will just be right back where you started.

Bush was unpopular among fiscal conservatives bc of reckless spending. His last year we had a record deficit of over 400Billion. We have been over a trillion a year since, plus that trillion on the "stimulus" really brought us back like gangbusters.

First of all the Bush Tax cuts did not raise revenue to pay for themselves nor did it stimulate the economy as much as they predicted
The removal of regulations on wall street that occurred during the clinton and bush terms by GOP congress
the idea that wall street banks would regulate themselves
Cutting capital gains taxes below clinton years levels
tax breaks that encourage outsourcing

and many many more

Bush was only one of many who contributed to our fiscal problems (although he was a particularly bad one). In any event, the fix for a government growing out of control is certainly not more leftist politics.

And i like the characterization that liberals are the ones recieving the welfare while teabaggers are working hard, when statistics show there are as many white trash tea baggers on welfare as anyone else
If tea bagger politicians ever messed with their money you'll see who's on welfare real quick

In times of economic crisis, govt has had to spend more money, the opposite has been tried and failed repeatedly, here and around the world

healthcare is up for debate, but its a new direction, we've tried the old, obama got elected, he got his bill passed, live with it
dont complain till we have seen some results

but the same old, free market cry is wearing thin with anyone with a memory and common sense
how many times are we gonna dig ourselves a hole before we learn how to regulate the market so it can function properly for a long period of time

^care to tell me where the free market failed?

Sure you have corrupt people everywhere, the free market does its role to prevent as much damage to the most people. Enron didnt fuck over 99% of the population. The govt securing and buying trillions of dollars in mortgages, establishing a new right to homeownership, certainly had more of a widespread effect.

Why I dislike Obama... He killed NASA. Instead of spending all that stupid money on healthcare reform that's going to cost more problems then it solves, spend it on research and development or the next best way to take over the world with pennies on the dollar.

so following Snewfs logic - All the economic success of Bill Clinton came from the hard work of Reagan and Bush senior.

By pure awesomeness

By Killed, I mean that projects are halted and a number of jobs were cut in that aspect. Even CNN covered this earlier this month with a number of people being laid off. Although, admittedly, we have more pressing issues at hand then space exploration, but NASA tends to give kids hopes and give national pride (a bit we are lacking besides the whole us vs. terrorists).

So when is the government going to tax breathable air for revenue generation?

The spending is clearly out of control, but I don't see how anyone on either side being elected is going to be able to get it back into control without basically conceding there is a good chance they won't get reelected. Because whoever comes in and cuts back spending is going to anger so many groups because the only way to get it back in control is to cut the budget on everyone across the board. That goes from military to welfare to even education. The out of control spending has gone back more than Bush or Obama. I'd def. vote Republic if I felt they would come in and get spending under control but I don't see that happening. Money might be spent differently, but it will still be spent.

And most likely with those cuts, will have to be tax raises as well. I find it hard to believe we will elect/find someone willing to be unpopular enough to fix our country which is what it is going to take.

^^^^Ok well you can word it a lot better than you did, he killed one program of many programs.

but really he did what most tea baggers would like, privatizing near earth orbit space travel
its not only gonna save NASA money, but its gonna open up a whole new space tourism market and put US out in front of the world yet again

I guess I only know nerdy kids. Oh well, fuck our current and future generation. We in the hole anyhows, lets just vote the best guy to give us more fake money and worry about national debt till the next president.

Also, do kids still watch power rangers? I grew up on that in Japan. Wouldn't think that they are still viable.
