San Jose. Full of nightlife creepers and like a ghost town during the day.

Yuma is nothing to write home about (although there is some good outdoors-type stuff to do once you get out of town a little ways).

lol, is this a joke?

If you haven't been to worse cities than San Jose you probably haven't been too many places...

My lady-friend in San Fransico said it is locally known as Man Jose for the plethora of nerdy, wealthy, undersexed computer types.

Other than that, DC. But just because I've never been more consistently angry in my life than I have been since I moved here.

yeah, i have a love/hate relationship with DC.

I'd say Fayetteville would be toward the top of my list.

There's plenty of places I've been to that haven't been impressive/have sucked/been boring/super unsafe, however; I was going for cities with specific qualities that just make them unenjoyable.

It's not a big city, but it is a big city for it's state... so Grand Island, Nebraska.

Bar none, the worst city I've had to stay overnight in. Awful...

Well I don't know about U.S. cities...but I do know Jacksonville NC is a pretty crappy place in NC. I avoid it like the plague.

St. Louis I think. Culture was cool, but, being a young kid, I got to see some guy shooting up in the middle of an empty parking lot. There was a lot of sketch around there.

Jacksonville is kinda similar to Fayetteville, but probably wouldn't be on the list of being the worst. Detroit is pretty bad, but haven't visited it in a long while.

i don't know. i've been to way too many to narrow it down. there are some shitty ass places just in NC though.

greenville

sylva

we went through this city in WV a few years ago when we took a different way to snowshoe. that HAD to have been one of the worst even though it was kind of pretty. but it was a shithole. and all the locals were unemployed and drinking all day long.

i am not a huge fan of the places i've been in FL, but i haven't been since i've been 21 and i guess i shouldn't judge any city too hard before i've had a beer in it

I would assume any town that doesn't have the University of Alabama or Auburn in it would be awful in Alabama.

Trenton, New Jersey and all surrounding suburbs. I have been to several cities already listed and none of them even come close.

There are some hidden jewels there that can be a lot of fun, if you know where to go.

Buffalo. Not because of the assholes from there that congregate in North Carolina, but because it is a depressing shithole.

Of all the cities people listed, excluding bumfuck towns, only Detroit would make my top 3. The only one I haven't yet been to is Birmingham, so no comment.

San Jose was just San Francisco's slightly worse off twin. Des Moines is just boring. San Francisco is not bad at all. DC has tons of fun places. Ditto on St. Louis. New Orleans, while being a shadow of what it once was, still isn't that bad. I lived in Richmond for a year and it ranks slightly below Raleigh on my list; there are some real nice areas and their downtown is slightly better. Albany is drab, but not terrible. Trenton does suck, it could possibly make the list. Houston is fine for a city in Texas; it's no Austin, but Texas doesn't even deserve Austin.

Detroit is miserable everywhere you go. The people look like they're minutes from offing themselves. It's a wasteland.
Memphis is a shady ass shit hole. There's no real redeeming quality to the town like you think there'd be. Or at least like I thought there would be.
Jacksonville & Daytona Beach win the award for places you wouldn't expect to be as shitty as they are. But they are.

Probably somewhere in Alabama... Though it's hard to say exactly which... none of the various shit holes I've passed through in that state have stood out as being any shittier than one another.

well that's kind of west virginia for you, I probably drove through that same area and its about as poor and beat up as I've seen in a developed country

also I think san jose is like the nerd capital of the US
