Odor Reveals Suspected Georgetown Dorm Drug Lab

Police have arrested three men suspected of creating a drug lab in a freshmen dormitory at prestigious Georgetown University in Washington.

D.C. Police spokesman Officer Hugh Carew says investigators found a DMT lab where chemicals could create a hallucinogenic drug. DMT stands for dimethyltryptamine.

Emergency crews responded about 6:15 a.m. after a strange odor was reported. About 400 students were evacuated from Harbin Hall. Seven people were exposed to noxious chemicals, including three students.

Georgetown spokeswoman Julie Green Bataille says no one was injured and the rest of the campus is operating normally.

Carew says two of the suspects are students and one was a visitor. Local and federal agents are investigating.

5-meo-dmt is what salvia should have been. It's immediately dissociative and independent of time, though physically the trip only lasts a minute or two. We free-based it and before I even leaned all the way back in my chair I had flown out of my body, looked down around the room, then turned around and shot out into a true void (not even blackness...a real, terrifyingly vivid nothing) that was inhabited by purely subconscious manifestations of all my senses...I can't really describe it, other than to say I tasted light and smelled sound and heard feelings, the distinctions thereof were impossible and honestly meaningless. It's almost as if my brain folded and compressed in on itself through infinite thought density until it exploded in its own Big Bang, and I was blissfully hurling through it all. Took a hot minute for me to hit baseline and realize what had just happened

These kids are going to face a 10 year federal mandatory minimum sentence, of which they will serve 90%.

5-MeO-DMT made me feel like I was being crushed from atmospheric pressure, and it's not very visual. DMT had a lot less body load, but the visual alterations were so intense that it was difficult to make out what you were looking at for a few minutes.

All of this came from Chinese chemical supply companies before the DEA got wise to it, so there's no way to know what we really got shipped. GCMS was a little bit out of our budget.

I didn't notice that at all with 5-meo-dmt...but we had ordered a vial of the powder before it was regulated, and admittedly had no idea what was a proper dose. it's entirely possible we did way more than enough

as in, i wasn't even aware of terrestrial things like my physical body, it was all so abstract. and there's no way that if my body was experiencing some sort of perceived pressure that my mind would have properly parsed that info and passed it along in a meaningful way

a lot of people screwed up dosing on that drug. Most scales people buy are only accurate to .1g +- 0.05g. You're talking about a drug where the active dose is 0.005g, so the active dose is ten times the tolerance of your scale. Luckily it's almost impossible to overdose on tryptamines, but it can scare the shit out of you for a few hours.

The easiest way we found to dose it was to mix it with a known amount of bacteriostatic water and then create a mg/ml solution you could measure with a pipette or syringe.

meh, I used to be willing to try a lot of things... at this point in my life though, I'm fine sticking to booze, simply because I'm not willing to get in trouble anymore over stupid stuff. I also like to keep things mostly organic in terms of drugs. I would never think of trying something like meth, but I had no problem with weed and shrooms.

DMT and 5-MeO-DMT are naturally occuring in multiple plants and toads. There are also traces of methamphetamine in a certain species of tumbleweed. Anthrax is also natural.

I bet you didn't hesitate to chomp down on dexedrine and adderall come exam time when you were in college. What separates amphetamines from methamphetamines other than a slightly different biological half-life?

^^lol I don't have a problem with this drug- I just think it is too much effort for what it offers (which is just my personal opinion). And as for the organic vs. synthetic- yes, I have no problem taking medications and other man made pills if it improves my state of being (antibiotics, attention aides, etc...) - I just don't feel the need to use them recreationally anymore, and again, that is just a personal opinion. No need to get bent out of shape simply because I think chemistry should be left in the lab and not in the living room

I feel like I should say that people should understand to not group illegal drugs into one category.

Some are "chill" social drugs, like booze and pot.
Some are harder party drugs, like ecstasy and coke.
Some are harder "chill" drugs and medicines, like opiates and benzos.
Others are serious "shamanic" drugs like acid and dmt, and should really not be taken simply for "fun", in my opinion.

Everyone is different, and every situation is different -- set and setting matters.
