.... be glad they purchased nice enough insurance that it will pay as primary.

Also, AAA does NOT work this way. It follows the driver, no matter the vehicle. Which is cool - I've never needed it but I've always wanted to call when I'm out driving the 30 passenger bus

Insurance Laws vary from state to state.

AAA is bound by NC law when doing business in NC - which says that when you lend your vehicle you lend your policy...

However just because the policy that followed the vehicle may pay for the accident does not mean that the accident won't go down on your driving record.

You will get the insurance points(SDIP) and your rates will increase in NC regardless of who's car you were driving at the time of the accident. It mostly sucks for the insurer of the person's car you were driving - because that person's rates aren't necessarily going to go up.

I'll often borrow a friend's car and drive it off a bridge so that I can practice escaping.

If you get a DWI in a friends car, and your license is suspended from a previous DWI, your friends car is subject to a school board seizure.

And during a school board seizure they'll put a wooden spoon in your mouth so you don't swallow your tongue.

True story.

I use to feel kind of bad about doing personal injury work as an attorney...the more I deal with insurance companies, the less bad I feel about taking their money.
