there are several out there.

not many mobos yet though. I'm pretty sure ASUS and gigabyte have some, but you can buy PCIe USB 3.0 cards.

i've pretty much decided that i won't be upgrading my computer until i can get a mATX mobo with USB 3.0 and 6gbps SATA for less than $100

which might be available now, i guess...but i haven't bothered to look

I have a USB3 card and external dock. Just curious if anyone else has experienced them yet.

Huge difference over USB2. I haven't run any performance tests yet, but general drag-n-drop performance is at least twice as fast as USB2. I do get varied performance based on number of files and file size, but such is life!

Mobos with USB 3.0 also typically do not support SLi or Crossfire which is a bummer because I want both.

^Huh? Sure they do. All the new ones at least. My ASUS mobo has USB 3.0, 6gbps SATA 3, and sli/cross fire support.

I have yet to pick up a USB 3.0 external or thumb drive yet but I will soon. I almost bought a SATA 3 SSD but went with a SATA 2 Vertex 2. SDD's aren't quite fast enough to take advantage of SATA 3 yet. I'm happy with ~285MB read/write. Almost the max for SATA 2.

I have a ThinkPad T410 with USB 3.0

Not to say it's not an improvement, but it's overrated. You don't get near the touted speeds of 400 MB/s ... fastest rate I'm able to get is 80 MB/s.

^What USB 3.0 device are you using with the thinkpad? Most HDD's and even some thumb drives will be the limiting factor, not the USB 3.0 port.

^Yeah it's a hard drive. It's going to be limited by it's read/write speed not by USB throughput:

Showing read speeds of barely 64.

To get closer to the throughput of USB 3.0 you'd have to get a faster device like an SSD drive or something:

Typically interfaces are always ahead of devices they support.
