the average number of posts made in a given day has indeed dropped in October from 2250 to about 1800. the number of different people posting on a given day has stayed roughly the same at a little under 400/day for at least the last 6 months, with a little bit lower in the summer

This has happened to nearly every forum I follow. I've had to add additional forums to my browsing just to stay fulfilled, but then you find yourself getting fed up with all the repeat information.

^^^well when people used to only use message boards to communicate with one another and waste time, tww thrived. Now lots of people just go and facebook stalk, play stupid games (re: farmville and mafia wars), and post inane status updates ("this is my favorite song of the day and it is so cool because it is a band you never heard of omg omg omg")

I totally agree... but I think people can become more self absorbed on facebook, and they also typically don't have to worry about being called out for being a dumbass (I mean, my friends aren't completely safe on there, but I definitely tone it down on there more than I would on here)
