the other day, I was browsing the internet on my netbook, which was running Ubuntu 10.04. The internet quit working while I was using it, and at first I though the connection had shit the bed. When I noticed that my iPhone still was connected, I checked my other computer, and found that it was also working fine.Over the next couple of days, I tried the netbook in a couple of different locations (on different WiFi networks). Still tits-up.Since I had installed a few system updates shortly before the internet failing, I finally tried to reinstall a couple of drivers...not sure if I did it correctly or not...it was giving an error message. I finally just backed up all the important stuff on the computer and installed the new version of Ubuntu (10.10)--not an update from my previous version, but a full-up install of the new OS. Still no internet. What the fuck??!Anyone have any ideas? I'm starting to think that it could be a hardware problem. Kinda odd, since it's a pretty new computer (MSI Wind U123). I wonder if MSI will be any help at all, with either warranty or tech support (since I erased the factory Windows installation and loaded Ubuntu)?

^thisubuntu fucking blows when you're trying to set up wireless.I find that it generally takes me about 6-10 hours of trying different solutions every single time I get the ubuntu bug before I find some wireless solution that works.

I have ubuntu on 3 computers and the only problem I've ever had are the thinkpad buttons on the laptop (the tpb package fixed it in 9.x native in 10.x)Sorry for your troubles.Have you checked the Ubuntu forums? They're usually quick to answer questions.

i've looked around/googled a little on Ubuntu forums, but I haven't actually posed my question(s) there. In the interest of simplicity (since I'm about to leave the country again for a couple of weeks and would like to take the netbook with me), it might be easier to just reinstall Windows for the time being. The only problem with that is that, being a netbook, it doesn't have CD/DVD drive, and therefore no Windows CD. I saved all the Windows files to my external hard drive before I installed Linux, but I'm not really sure how to reinstall it from here.

Try the 10.10 release before you ditch the whole thing. System->admin->update managersettings->updates(near the bottom) -> change to "Normal Releases"Close, refresh the updates windowInstall 10.10 at the top
