Fried Turkey. The Bo near me up here is offering them, seasoned and fried for Thanksgiving. Since it will just be me and the gf this year, thinking about copping one and just making a bunch of sides to go along with it.

I saw this in Charlotte yesterday. Their ad says "heat and serve" and it's $39.99. It might be an alright option, but it doesn't sound great.

Frying a turkey isn't dangerous as long as you aren't an idiot and follow the instructions


have a completely thawed out turkey, don't use too much oil, and monitor the temperature, and for god's sake, make sure you do it outside. Success


also, I have heard great things about the mail ordered turduckens - I would like to try one (especially since i found out you can get bacon thrown in there too)

The Western Bojangles is probably the best one I've ever been to. I lived in Charlotte for a year, and the sandwiches were not nearly as good.

I've thought about this quite in-depth before, and here's what I've come up with.

First, you can't really compare Bojangles to all of the other fast food places. It's main offering to the customer is fried chicken. So someone who is a burger and fries person isn't going to soil their pants over Bojangles.

Who are Bojangles competitors in the Fried Chicken department?? Hardees and KFC. I love fried chicken and I have three categories. (1) The best fried chicken ever. My grandma made it. She's dead. So no more of that. (2) Very good fried chicken. Has to be something significantly different than regular fried chicken. Could be the way it is breaded, could be a little spicy (like how Bojangles does it), etc. Has to be something that separates it from regular fried chicken. (3) Regular fried chicken. IMO, it's hard to fuck up fried chicken. I absolutely love fried chicken, so I will eat the lowest quality fried chicken and consider it decent. KFC and Hardees fall into category 3...and Bojangles into category 2.

As to why NC Students seem to like it a little better than the rest of the population?? After living in several different places with Bojangles, I will say that the one on Western is run extremely well. Their food is consistent as is their service. I've run into other good Bojangles, but I've also run into a lot of shitty ones. When the food is consistently good, Bojangles is the best place to get fast food fried chicken (and cajun filet biscuits). I also love Chic-fil-a. But their chicken is done differently. I like their waffle fries, but the seasoning on Bojangles' fries is also very good. Bojangles biscuits are also delicious.

i've heard the bojangles fried turkey is good, but never had it. if i was going to go w/ a premade turkey i think i'd choose one of these (not ranked in any order, but i've had them all):

1. Q shack
2. honey baked ham
3. boston market

2 and 3 are probs the best IMO. of course they aren't fried, but they are good for premade turkeys.

A few years ago I had a coworker that brought one to our Thanksgiving Pot Luck. It tasted pretty much the same as any other fried turkey I have had, so it was good. I do remember however that it was cold when he picked it up, and needed to be put in the oven for like an hour, which they didn't tell him ahead of time. So you might want to check with Bojangles to see if they still sell them cold so you can plan ahead.
