Fried Turkey. The Bo near me up here is offering them, seasoned and fried for Thanksgiving. Since it will just be me and the gf this year, thinking about copping one and just making a bunch of sides to go along with it.

Anyone had one for Thanksgiving before?

My thoughts on Bojangles as a whole is "over rated" by ncsu students. I've never met another group of people that think Bojangles is anything special, yet y'all mental midgets cum in your pants over that greasy shit. It boggles my mind.

4^Bojangles love is not exclusive to ncsu

Being it originated in Charlotte, you should know that...or not...you are kind of an odd bird

I saw this in Charlotte yesterday. Their ad says "heat and serve" and it's $39.99. It might be an alright option, but it doesn't sound great.

thats funny because up here in DC I run into UNC/Duke/WFU folks constantly at NC oriented gatherings and they deify it just as much.

State students jack off to Bojangles because State students are disproportionately fat and poor in comparison to Duke and UNC students, and thus the cheap greasy fare provided by Bojangles fits our demographic exceedingly well

in charlotte, it was as revered as any other fast food place. If I made this claim to someone back home, they would want me to explain more about how much ncsu folks love them some bojangles. But because I made this claim on an NCSU message board, I am clearly a "troll"

I will say, I don't think bojangles is bad, but it can be substituted with any other fast food breakfast/lunch and I wouldn't care

PS- their sweet tea is too sweet

THERE, I SAID IT!

UNC is the place where Bojangles gives free biscuits when they score 100 points

i'll agree that their tea is overrated...it's consistently bad, but occasionally it tastes alright. Usually though it tastes like an ashtray

I got one a few years ago (as a second to the one my family was making) and it was a bigger hit than the home cooked one!

Frying keeps the moisture in.

i've had homefried turkey before, but i always hear about how dangerous it is to cook it, so the bojangles route seems like a good choice

is $40 about normal for a prepared turkey? last year we got a bunch of stuff from honey baked ham and it was expensive as hell

Frying a turkey isn't dangerous as long as you aren't an idiot and follow the instructions

have a completely thawed out turkey, don't use too much oil, and monitor the temperature, and for god's sake, make sure you do it outside. Success

also, I have heard great things about the mail ordered turduckens - I would like to try one (especially since i found out you can get bacon thrown in there too)

The Western Bojangles is probably the best one I've ever been to. I lived in Charlotte for a year, and the sandwiches were not nearly as good.

I've thought about this quite in-depth before, and here's what I've come up with.

First, you can't really compare Bojangles to all of the other fast food places. It's main offering to the customer is fried chicken. So someone who is a burger and fries person isn't going to soil their pants over Bojangles.

Who are Bojangles competitors in the Fried Chicken department?? Hardees and KFC. I love fried chicken and I have three categories. (1) The best fried chicken ever. My grandma made it. She's dead. So no more of that. (2) Very good fried chicken. Has to be something significantly different than regular fried chicken. Could be the way it is breaded, could be a little spicy (like how Bojangles does it), etc. Has to be something that separates it from regular fried chicken. (3) Regular fried chicken. IMO, it's hard to fuck up fried chicken. I absolutely love fried chicken, so I will eat the lowest quality fried chicken and consider it decent. KFC and Hardees fall into category 3...and Bojangles into category 2.

As to why NC Students seem to like it a little better than the rest of the population?? After living in several different places with Bojangles, I will say that the one on Western is run extremely well. Their food is consistent as is their service. I've run into other good Bojangles, but I've also run into a lot of shitty ones. When the food is consistently good, Bojangles is the best place to get fast food fried chicken (and cajun filet biscuits). I also love Chic-fil-a. But their chicken is done differently. I like their waffle fries, but the seasoning on Bojangles' fries is also very good. Bojangles biscuits are also delicious.

Popeye's sucks moose cock.

Smithfield's is damn good, but it and Bojangles are two different categories as far as I'm concerned.

it always amazed me when I went winter camping with my boy scouts troop and we were able to deep fry a whole turkey in the matter of minutes.

Is this true? If so,

I would be interested in trying this turkey. I've never had fried turkey before and Bojangles seems like they'd make a decent one. But I think I love my brined turkey too much to shell out $40 for a fried one.

i've heard the bojangles fried turkey is good, but never had it. if i was going to go w/ a premade turkey i think i'd choose one of these (not ranked in any order, but i've had them all):

1. Q shack
2. honey baked ham
3. boston market

2 and 3 are probs the best IMO. of course they aren't fried, but they are good for premade turkeys.

you can brine a turkey before you fry it as well.

$40 is not bad when you consider the cost of the turkey and oil costs like $20+ for a container....

A few years ago I had a coworker that brought one to our Thanksgiving Pot Luck. It tasted pretty much the same as any other fried turkey I have had, so it was good. I do remember however that it was cold when he picked it up, and needed to be put in the oven for like an hour, which they didn't tell him ahead of time. So you might want to check with Bojangles to see if they still sell them cold so you can plan ahead.
