Now what if one of those kids creamed that QB. Can you imagine the outrage of the parents when that kid gets demolished after waltzing across the LOS like that?

"HE WAS DEFENSELESS!!!"

Could have been considered deception, which is an unsportsmenlike conduct penalty and 15 yards depending on what the QB was saying to the coach.

Still pretty funny though.

All the kids on defense should be checked for downs-syndrome.

It would have been more badass if he walked all the way to the end zone

reminds me of when that QB kid started walking to the sideline with the ball held up high then he took off when his coach said "go"

Had a team do this to us in HS. They basically acted like they were subbing a receiver, but there were only 10 players in the huddle. So the receiver that left the huddle to allow the substitute in went to the sidelines but stayed just in the field... hanging out like he was off the field.

I was of course the corner that was supposed to be covering him... When the rest of the team lined up he walked up to the line late and nobody saw him... Wide open TD - the refs said they could of called a "deception" penalty, but chose not too

negatory- as long as the formation is good and no one is moving (other than a possible motion guy), then the center can just hike the ball whenever he wants and everyone goes

this is just silly- I can't imagine wanting to win a middle school game that much to punk the other team like that. I am all about fundamentals for pee-wee and ranger football though, so that might just be me

the center gave it to him very slowly, would the DLineman be allowed to snatch it from him before the QB took the ball?

What would happen if the defense did their job and complete smashed into the o-line/qb while they were all motionless and prone?

Any interaction with the coaches/sideline while the center is on the ball should be a penalty.

yes

and ^, there are a ton of legitimate reasons for there to be communication between the offense and the sideline. There's a college team that lines up and THEN their coach calls their play from the sideline every play... What team is that?

They were wrong to not flag it. Deception by substitution is explicitly in the rule book. The play in the OP isn't mentioned specifically but I still think it would qualify.

Middle school football is meant to be hilarious. Why else would anyone watch that shit unless their kid was playing?

Even if their kid is playing, they still wouldn't really want to watch unless there were a few trick plays or maybe someone else's kid gets literally knocked out of his shoes... or if a kid starts crying, etc...

It would have been more badass if he turned into optimus prime and stomped the whole defense to death as he danced into the end zone then flew into outer space.

^^^That scene really bugged me, even the first time I saw it as a kid.

On any pickoff attempt at 1st base, you have to throw.

If you don't, it's a balk.

I wonder if that is the Miller-Driscol(sp) that I would have gone to if I hadn't moved from CT to GA back in the day.

^^ Yeah, in a movie about a 12 year-old managing an MLB club, I was really bothered by the liberties they took with the rulebook

Getting made into a fool publicly is an excellent incentive to learn the rules.

If you step back off the rubber first, you can do whatever you want. But they never show the pitcher's feet in that scene.
