Nope. This was a 65 (Robbery) not shoplifting. Employee was trying to follow suspects but lost them in Durham. Durham PD now searching for suspects.

khcadwal has it pretty much spot on. I have some RPD buddies in the D21 (Northwest District) where this occurred and they say pretty much the same thing. The fact it is close to I540 and Durham also makes it an attractive target for a crime with quick get away route available.

I saw a guy run out of the best buy in greensboro with a 32" LCD tv last christmas and had 3 employees chase him out...this sketch ass minivan screeched up in front of the store, threw open the sliding door, and the guy jumped in....

...one of the BB employees following him jumped onto the side and was hanging on, half in the door as it started to speed off....finally the employee just jumped off rather than get killed over a piece of shit tv worth $250.

I don't think most thieves are smart enough to realize that though. I had this conversation with a coworker the other day. She was going on about, "Oh no what if someone robbed us," and I tried to explain to her that since everyone uses credit cards these days the robber might get away with $150 but she was under the delusion that the robber would get away with thousands of dollars.
