Especially ones that require you to use at least 2 capital letters, 2 symbols, a tilda, and no less than 3 equal signs, along with every other type of key on the keyboard.
I inevitably forget whatever I set it as within a week or two. 11/10/2010 1:46:06 PM

I just hate that different sites have different obligatory and allowable characters/lengths. I can come up with a perfectly secure password, but it's invalid on a site that has a min/max length or won't accept special characters. 11/10/2010 2:24:38 PM

I know more than a few people with a password protected excel spreadsheet of all their passwords.
This way they only have to remember 1 11/10/2010 2:33:52 PM

I'm thinking of going to a password scheme such as: <password>-<service>
For example: P4$$w0rd-tww or P4$$w0rd-google
Each service has a unique password and is easy for me to remember, but if one password is compromised it isn't likely leave my other passwords vulnerable to automated attack. 11/10/2010 3:51:49 PM

^^except if someone actually looked at it, they'd figure out that your facebook password was P4$$w0rd-facebook (or -fb or -fbook)
I do like the idea though 11/10/2010 4:29:02 PM

Virtually everyone at my job uses either "password" or "[lastname]123" which is kind of scary, but if I make them change it they'll just forget it and I'll have to reset it back to "password" anyway. 11/10/2010 9:20:00 PM

i have 2 standard lists that i either build rainbow tables from or crack directly from for wireless networks - the first is 169mb and the second is 28mb - i have a very high success with the smaller one and only use the larger one in rare cases - below are the number of words in each
in general, humans suck with passwords

why do some websites NOT accept special characters in passwords?
i guess they want you to have passwords like "correct horse battery staple"
or "greg hyer deworming agent" 9/2/2011 8:06:39 AM

I do the multi-word thing and then add numbers and capitalize the second word
Example: doorFacecat538
I have no idea how secure it is but by using the same three numbers, keeping the capital in the same place, and just changing the three words, I'm able to have different passwords for basically anything and am able to remember them all (and it satisfies most pw requirements). 10/23/2012 9:58:08 AM

I hate sites with password length requirements of =<8 characters... my shortest "standard" password is 9 characters and I always forget and then get locked out on these sites 10/23/2012 10:02:42 AM

allow me to restate how much I hate stupid (seemingly arbitrary) password requirements:
longer than 8 chars shorter than 16 chars must contain at least one uppercase letter must contain at least one lowercase letter must contain at least one number must contain at least one of the following symbols: - _ = + * # $ ! must not be any of the five previous passwords
I swear I've changed my password on that website like 10 times since I can't ever remember what I changed it to the last time I forgot it

Ugh. I hate all of that password shit.
At my husband's job they make you change your password every 2 weeks.
For April Fools they told him that he'd have to change it every day and he totally believed them.

This. One main secure password is all you need to remember. The rest are all completely random and secure. You can use Google's authentication app, hardware key, or grid multifactor authentication as well. Then just install the app on your phone, tablet, computer, etc.

When the IT girl has to work on our laptops it's easier for her tohave us write it down for her instead of going through approvals and authorizations to formally get them. Her expression was priceless when I gave her my old passwords of MyVoltmet3rsDead and Iloveshrubbery1111. 10/23/2012 12:32:05 PM

I've just gone through the numbers in numerical order.
0 to 9, now 00- 99. Next is probably 000-999... 10/23/2012 12:36:32 PM
