A lot of new films are overrated these days because actual good ones are few and far between

actually, constant complaining occurs because people are always comparing new movies to the classics.

then they complain that theres hardly any original ideas anymore.

then they complain that the original ideas that are released are stupid.

I agree with rating Inception higher than Good Bad Ugly. But in truth, you can't compare films from different generations. inception would have been impossible without the advanced tech we have now

Yes, not saying that Inception is overrated by any means.. but surely it is going to be in the top 5 when the public hasn't been treated to anything good for so long. It seems every year that good movies are more scarce, driving the few good ones way up the list. I wish film was as exciting as it was in like '99 when there were so many good and different things coming out

What metric(s) do you use to rate movies?

what is the assumed apples to apples conversion factor for comparison of movies (or anything for that matter) across different generations and eras?

IMDB ratings always skew high for popular movies when they're relatively new. Check again in five years.

this is on some ol' dumb shit right here

aside from the particular execution of a few show-offy effects like the zero-g sequence in the hotel

and ariadne's introduction to affecting the dream world

what the hell wouldn't have been possible in inception

could've told the same story with simpler effects

would've been just as good a movie

could've done that shit in '77, word up
