I turned and I see this white dude, butt-naked, he's just tearing up bookshelves," Stewart said. "It was crazy. I thought ‘Wow, is this guy crazy? Is he on drugs?'" Stewart said a crowd of about 15 people stood by and watched the incident. "He started coming up to us threatening to fight us," Stewart said. "He asked [students] if they wanted to die, and then he continued wrecking bookshelves." Cameron Winter, a senior in English and a library employee, said while he didn't see the incident, he couldn't miss the aftermath. "It was about 1,400 [books] just from estimates," Winter said. "He wasn't doing it half-assed. It was all or nothing for this guy." According to Winter, fellow employees had to explain the source of the "knee-deep" book piles to him. "I cleaned for about an hour. It's going to take a while. It'll take one or two days," Winter said. Barnwell said Pace was not arrested, but was taken to Rex Hospital to undergo medical evaluations."
