John Lithgow was good, but it was pretty much a Criminal Minds episode spread out over 12 hours. That was the last season of Dexter I bothered watching.

You have horrible taste in movies and television. Pretty much the only poster I ignore when looking for a review on this site.

^ Right back at you...I try to ignore your posts but sometimes they are too idiotic to overlook. You haven't watched The Wire and you're lecturing me about shitty taste? Get the fuck out of here.

Watching the Wire and/or Sopranos was not an option because I didn't (and still don't) have HBO. And I'm not shelling out the money to buy the seasons and it takes too long to watch that shit shipping on Netflix one disc at a time. It will happen at some point, but damn, I wish they would stream that shit...it's been over for years.

One of your favorite characters on Modern Family is Manny. I rest my case.

I don't think I ever said Manny was my favorite character, I just said he wasn't terrible. But I'm pretty sure you ceded the taste higher ground when you made a thread about The Help being awesome.

On TV shows I'll go:
1) The Wire
2) The Sopranos
3) Breaking Bad
4) Mad Men
5) Freaks and Geeks

A movies list would take me a lot longer.

I'm gonna post in this and I'm sure I'll get criticized.

I can't get into the wire. I've got it sitting on my tv stand for several weeks now (just season 2 episodes 5-7 or something) waiting to watch from netflix. While dexter captivated me from the very beginning.

Dexter gets my vote, even though I admitingly have given up on the wire.

I was the same way. It took me forever to finish S1.

And while I can appreciate its quality, it's nowhere near my favorite show.

it definitely takes some time to acclimate yourself to the wire. there are a metric shit ton of characters and the dialogue takes some time to get used to. furthermore, season two is a pretty big departure from the other four seasons in terms of characters, plot, and content. i think it's also a show that needs to be watched in fairly rapid succession as it's easy to miss/forget a lot of details if you go too long between episodes.

that being said, in my opinion, it is the pinnacle of tv.

I'm watching it on HBO GO and have made it to season 4 after starting with S1E1 about 3 weeks ago. It's great entertainment and agree that if you can watch it in quick succession you are better off.

Season 2 was a lot different, but not in a bad way, I wasn't sure I was going to stick through it but season 3 brought it back for me. Can't wait to watch a few episodes of season 4 this week!

Said it was an entertaining movie that I recommended. Still stand by that.

And I haven't seen any of the ones on your list (although at some point I would like to see them all). My list goes more towards comedies as my sporadic schedule over the years doesn't allow me to keep up with hour long dramas (full time bartender for the past 7 years until this past year). I've only recently been able to watch Dexter and actually started using DVR.

Some of my recent favorites have been Dexter, Party Down, The League, Parks and Recreation, and Modern Family.

See you give me shit but my list is pretty much the same, just sub out mad men and F&G out with Friday Night Lights and Dexter.

Breaking Bad is a great example of how a show can go 4 seasons and still do a damn good job with the plot.

1) Sportscenter circa 20th century
2) Flipper (Alba edition)
3) Sesame Street (only scenes with Snuffy)
4) Golden Girls (the episode where Dorothy gets naked)
5) The Magic Johnson Show

"The Magic Johnson Show"

aw, fuck yeah

The Magic Hour was one of the most entertaining programs of all-time. Especially the episode that Howard Stern co-hosted and insulted Magic and made inappropriate AIDS remarks the whole show and then closing the proceedings with a terrible rendition of Wipe Out accompanied on stage with half a dozen farters. That shit should be in the Museum of Radio & Television History.
