because reading is fun
and they really are a good read if you can displace yourself from the fact that the lead character is a little cry baby 11/12/2010 12:23:39 AM |

Seriously? Have you read the last book? I mean sometimes he gets like that...but how else would you expect a teenage boy to react after constantly having the most dangerous dark wizard trying to kill him all his life? Sometimes he was just like "Wtf, I don't want to be Harry Potter, I want to be a normal wizard, I want my parents back, I want to live a life where I'm not constantly having to save someone else's life" 11/12/2010 7:40:55 AM |

But his parents did hook him up with a pretty nice trust fund. 11/12/2010 8:33:50 AM |

I agree with sawahash. To have Harry Potter go through what he did and not be at least a little unlikable would be unrealistic. The only book where he really got on my nerves was The Order of the Phoenix. At that point (spoiler alert) he's had people creepily fawning over him, some sketchy reporter spreading lies about him, he watched a friend be killed right in front of him, gotten stabbed, and watched his parents' murderer come back to life. Plus he's a teenager who spends his summers with people who treat him like dirt. 11/12/2010 9:32:53 AM |

Yeah but what pissed me off was he constantly got by on pure luck alone. Sometimes he had the smarts but most of it was luck, thankfully, he realizes this in the last book.
Damn good read, even as an adult I wanted to be a fucking wizard when I read those shits lol. Can't wait for movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 11/12/2010 11:13:08 AM |

That's something I noticed too. In pretty much every book he royally fucks something up and almost gets screwed for it. If Voldemort hadn't insisted on killing him himself, he'd be dead ten times over. 11/12/2010 11:38:21 AM |

might I recommend another book enjoyed by 11 year olds:
Animorphs
I'm sure you'll have fun with that series after you've concluded the adventures of the wizard boy and his magical cohorts 11/13/2010 1:20:19 PM |

Ron is worse, he's always trying to copy off Hermione, whining about how bad he is in quidditch, and pouting about how Harry gets more attention than him. 11/13/2010 1:33:26 PM |

this seems to be the case with many people
why don't you normally read fiction?
and why did you make an exception for harry potter?11/13/2010 2:27:43 PM |
