Post here when your sniffles are getting worse than just the sniffles, and if you find out you got the flu
I know there are some other sickies on here right now, other than myself, ie: DivaBaby19
I don't think I have the flu, but I definitely have flu like symptoms... headache, cough, congestion, body aches, cold sweats, "zonked out," and loss of appetite. I hope it gets better soon! 11/16/2010 12:37:02 PM |

it actually isn't terrible today (I can still function at probably 80%), but if it gets any worse, I'll probably call out on Thursday 11/16/2010 12:40:06 PM |

I woke up with a sore throat and general ickyness. It hasn't gotten much worse, but also hasn't improved at all. I am hoping I can sleep it off this evening and not have it develop any further.
Also I get really out of it when I get sick and tend to say or do dumb things. I typed "people that" earlier, and I take that as a bad sign. 11/16/2010 1:19:51 PM |

i HOPE i don't get the flu this year. i had it last year and it turned into pneumonia. it was AWFUL. i felt so horrible. i had body aches that no amount of heat or ibuprofen could cure. and i could not get warm...even in a scalding bath tub. i was in so much pain.
right now i just have the sniffles. i've had kind of constant sniffles since i started working at the kid's store/photog studio though. so many germies in there.
feel better guys!!!! 11/16/2010 1:22:03 PM |

I had the nasty flu in like February or March of this year. Like 103.7 degree fever at it's peak. I couldn't fall asleep for 30 minutes without pouring sweat when I woke up. This isn't nearly as bad, but work didn't want me to hang around past when I absolutely had to because I was coughing up a storm. I would've been fine with sticking it out personally.
Weird thing is 3.5 years in CA and I never once got sick. In fact, I barely even remember getting a cold. Something about NC makes me sick more often.

yea i had that gross flu, too. well it was swine flu and i wasn't allowed to have the whatever they gave out (tamaflu?) because i wasn't in the "risk age range." wasn't in the "risk age range" for the shot either, so i couldn't get it at school when they gave out the free ones. hmph. 11/16/2010 1:30:38 PM |

Sore throat, no voice, HOT for no damn reason, sniffles, coughing up shit, coughing so much I'm throwing up, body aches, exhaustion.
I will let you know the results. With my luck he will put a bandaid on it and tell me to go to work lol 11/16/2010 1:50:13 PM |

I already had my cold/sore throat for this winter season, put me out for 4 days, hopefully that's all I'll get this year. Nyquil is always my go-to cold medicine. 11/16/2010 4:39:08 PM |

i usually get some symptoms around this time but mostly in response to the season/weather change that's occurring. 11/16/2010 4:39:11 PM |
khcadwal All American 35165 Posts user info edit post |
can you really get cold symptoms from weather change? or is that just something people say. cause it doesn't seem to make sense to me
well i guess cold air can actually physically dry out your nose...but that seems like it could cause a lack of sniffles instead of the sniffles! 11/16/2010 4:56:03 PM |
DivaBaby19 Davidbaby19 45208 Posts user info edit post |
I'm allergic to cold/flu meds so I have to ride it out which makes me prone to get other infections and whatnot.
What sucks is its a new allergy (like 6 years old) and I remember how glorious it was to take nyquil and pass the fuck out
I also need to have my tonsils taken out, but I don't have much $Texas so that doesn't help my immune system much at all

I've already had my battle with mine. End of October I felt terrible, nasty cough, tons of congestion, and a fever of 100.5. Luckily I got the fever down quickly, congestion was next, but the cough stuck with me for 2.5 weeks. I'm honestly just now getting over it completely. 11/18/2010 6:41:19 AM |

first off, I said I didn't think I did. Secondly, when I have the flu, unless it is the 24 hour flu, isn't instant onset throwing up, fever, etc... it starts out with everything I just described, and usually a lack of appetite, and then gets worse over the course of a day or two. And I have posted on here when I had the flu, as even when I'm sick as a dog, I get bored just lying in bed (I only had it so bad one time that I couldn't/wouldn't move and that was over the summer of 03)
that being said, I don't think I have the flu, but I have a pretty unenjoyable cold beginning to onset
note: I guess the one time you had the flu was pretty bad- I've had it probably 3 times this decade and then another 6 times before that (elementary and middle school are damn breeding grounds for that stupid virus). But I have only had it so bad (like you did) once - and in hindsight, both of us probably should have gone to the hospital so we could have had constant fluids

fever isn't necessarily instant (although it is something that would need to show up within a couple days of exposure for a doctor to be sure that's what you have). And i don't have a fever right now, and I still have an appetite (although not big) which is a big reason I think it is just an unpleasant cold and not the flu 2/1/2011 10:40:29 AM |

yeah...it's been over 20 years since i had the flu
i had a MEAN case of bronchitis (bordering on pneumonia) about 10 years ago...
other than that...it's just been colds and the like...
even the last time i went to the doctor for something like that it wasn't really a cold or anything...it was exhaustion coupled with non-stop exposure to cigarette smoke since i started working in a unventilated biker bar 40+ hours a week 2/1/2011 11:22:04 AM |

^in the grand scheme of things, I dont' mind being stopped up. The worst symptoms for me are the aches (which I do have right now) and the deliriousness (which thankfully I don't, but did have when I originally made this thread)

Since Sunday I've had a persistent cough and occasional chills/fever. Also, the area behind my eyes hurts like hell if I try to turn them any direction other than straight ahead.
Oddly, no sore throat, no runny nose or congestion, no nausea or anything of the sort. But it is still managing to be extremely annoying and unpleasant. 2/1/2011 11:28:37 AM |
