Sucks that he can't commute easily...sadly none of the stuff the city is doing sounds like it'll lead to a quick change in policy. 11/18/2010 4:36:08 PM |

I always wondered if a pizza by the slice cart mounted on a bicycle would fly under the permit radar.
Non motorized, so its not considered a food truck Mobile, so you don't have to get a spot permit like hot dog carts. 11/18/2010 4:41:14 PM |

Sweet, gonna have to find that truck sometime soon.
Indy Week had a good review of some trucks awhile back: http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/your-food-is-moving/Content?oid=1496194
The junkyard that's out on 70 past Brier Creek has a taco truck there on the weekends that makes A++ tacos.
^ Hell he could have the engine taken out of his truck and have it drawn by oxen

Any trucks that make really good turkey sandwiches with extra mayo? There's a guy around here that makes a good turkey sandwich on pumpernickel, but he only gives you a tiny dab of mayonaisse, while I like to drown my sandwiches in the stuff. Needless to say, I won't be going back there anymore, and I'm looking for an alternative. 11/18/2010 4:44:37 PM |

^^lol, but i'm talking about being baked at a brick and mortar kitchen and loaded into a cooler type apparatus packaged by the slice in cardboard....Not lugging around a whole oven and everything on a bike.

If libertarians were in charge, we would've already had these food trucks from the very beginning....
^ You've only got a few minutes between cook time and eat time for pizza. You'd have to remove it from the oven, cut it, put the slices in packages, pack the packages up, and go sell them quick.
Maybe something that has more hold time, like mini-strombolis...

Did you ever simply ask for more? Many people only like a tiny dab -- he may not want to offend people by putting a lot...

We got into a standoff, and he wouldn't give me more, even though I offered to pay extra for it. Real prick, an Armenian guy with a thick accent. Has no concept of customer service. 11/18/2010 5:23:33 PM |

There are food trucks all over Raleigh (I'm partial to the taco truck that parks next to the greenway at Capital/Hodges), but they're banned in downtown. They're looking at lifting the ban. 11/18/2010 10:36:29 PM |
