I've been off the nose spray for one day now. Even though I only used it 3 days, I still had to deal with rebound congestion.

Wean yourself off that shit and see an ENT, dude.

My dad used some kind of nasal spray (Afrin I think) for about a decade.
Then he had to have 5 or more sinus surgeries and his doctor told him it was his fault for spraying that shit up his nose.

I use Nasonex once or less per day. I try to use Loratidine (generic Claritin) to control my allergies and only go to the Nasonex when I need it.

I use a Neti pot shortly after swimming in these dank bathtub temp lakes and rivers around here in the summer. For allergies that you breathe constantly through the air it seems pretty useless IMO.

I feel sorry for everyone who's suffered... (We should all use a bit of common sense!)

This is the thing about certain drugs.
Some people can handle addictive things better than others.

I have tried nearly every illegal addictive drug out there, and never got addicted to any of them.
(I was addicted to tobacco, and am slowly becoming a regular drinker, but those are legal, haha.)

Others I have known, however, have no business trying every illegal addictive drug -- they don't have will power and would be sure to get hooked after the first use. Still others I have known, also have no business trying every illegal addictive drug -- they do things for the wrong reason and would end up addicted, too.

Drug use, legal or otherwise, takes personal responsibility which includes will power, common sense, moderation, etc.

With psychoactive drugs, in particular, users must be personally responsible and consider set and setting.

I had an alchoholic roommate once. I had a bottle of wine in the fridge and he drank the entire thing in one night. (plus his usual 6 pack of Coors) He apologized and bought me a new one, but drank that one too. That happened twice before he just paid me for the bottle. If he had one drink, he couldn't stop. But I can drink one drink and not have a desire for more. Unlike indy, I don't feel all high and mighty about my superior "will power." I'm just lucky enough to have a brain that doesn't go crazy for chemicals.

When did say I had superior will power? How could I be high and mighty about something I never claimed?
I thought I clearly admitted to past and present addiction....
(You must dislike my sentiments so much as to falsely attribute attitudes and assertions to me. Wow.)

And sure, to some degree, as I implied when I said, "Some people can handle addictive things better than others...... have no business trying every illegal addictive drug," people are different in ways that aren't their fault. Your parents and grandparents all 5 feet tall?...You probably won't be playing much basketball. Your parents and grandparents addicts?....You probably will have some substance abuse issues.

My point is simply that everyone should be personally responsible, and part of that includes will power, moderation, and the common sense that one needs to know one's own limits. If you're 5 feet tall, you can make an effort to be strong (lifting weights, nutrition, etc.). If you have an "addictive" personality, as in you're genetically predisposed to addition, you can make an effort to not become addicted (knowing your limit, moderation, abstinence, etc.)

Before modern universities, with their academic hubris....
and before the internet, with its replacing knowledge with information...
there were these things called "reason" and "experience".

By all means, ignore everything everyone ever says unless they have letters after their name.

(not trying to be mean, it's just that your question is quite offensive and ignorant.)

No, it's not.
Believing everything doctors, corporate drug pushers, and quasi-religious bureaucrats say is dangerous.
Sorry Joie, but you are 100% backwards on this.
I'm not saying believe everything I or anyone says, I'm saying to keep an open mind, and understand that those with money and power as motivators might be less than honest. I have no money or power to gain from saying the things I have. Others you seem to trust more, certainly do.

but in all honesty, your readiness to offends me. (ax well as anyone else who has spent YEARS in the medical field)

im getting a doctorate degree in this material and you treat me as though i'm an idiot.

and then guess what happened. in order to each more effectively and save more lives - universities were formed to teach.
are you really arguing that the medical field hasn't advanced since the time of "reason" and "experience"?

whats your field of expertise? what is it that you are proud you know so much about because you do it for a living?

how would you feel if someone questioned your education claiming everything you knew was a crock based off of nothing but what they read on websites they frequent ?

sorry indy-you are the one thats being arrogant and offensive.

You are fucking backwards.

Go ahead out into the world believing that doctors, universities, and indeed the entire modern medical industry is a force of pure good in the world. Politics, religion, power and money have nothing to do with it. Every fact you've been taught is 100% true and doesn't represent any ulterior intent. Have fun. (sheep.)

listen, i have no issues with you whatsoever.
i apologize (?) that i do NOT agree with you here at all, but in honesty you did offend me and i tried to talk to you (albiet maybe i was little rash at first)

however i find that you are being incredibly unreasonable.

a cunt? really?

all because i was trying to point out fallacies in your argument? you could have proven me wrong. you could have done pretty much anything but agree with me....i didn't expect you to. but no. you resorted to calling me names.

that's pretty effed up.

and trust me. im not here to "troll" you. i was here to talk. i can guarantee you that i will not be following you around ripping on you. that was not the intention of this "conversation"

i really did not mean for it to get this out of hand. i sincerely do apologize, indy, for riling it up this far. i dont think it was worth it....

Actually indy and joie are both right.

On the grand tilt scale of things, I'd say there exists about 50%/50% balance out there.

50% of doctors that know what they're doing and do it to help people (joie's argument)
50% of doctors that are (indy's argument)
1. mal-educated from being forced to stick to textbook rules.
2. are in it for the money (own stock in viagra, flomax, etc)/ must make $1 mill mortgage payment on their house
3. prescribe bogus pills (the pills they sell to "enhance sexual performance" on tv that are solicited by "real" doctors.
4. Have religious missions in anti-medicine such as anti-abortion and god-will-cure-you medicine.

Personally I think 50% of the bad side is way too high. I wouldn;t want to gamble trusting a doctor I don't know that says they're an educated doctor.
