I work in inside sales/customer service.

I must have a pleasing phone voice...every dude that talks to me flirts with me...good thing they don't know what I look like

One guy today just asked me if I would give him some nice words because I sound like someone who would light up any room I walk into.

Those messages "your call may be monitored for quality purposes" is for real folks. Our supervisors really do listen in on calls to make sure we are handling things right.

pretty sure that doesn't have anything to do with customer service. More like part sourcing and order fulfillment efficiency.

One time I bought a product replacement plan from Best Buy on a PSP that I got from EB Games. When it broke and I went into a different Best Buy to get it fixed/replaced, they basically told me to go fuck myself because I didn't buy the PSP from Best Buy to begin with. I called the 800-Best-Buy number and explained the situation and they explained to me that, while the 2nd store was correct in sending me away, the 1st store was at fault for selling me the plan to begin with. The customer service rep ended up calling the 1st store and pretending he was a regular customer and asking if they would sell him a replacement plan on an iPod he bought from the Apple store. After they agreed, he immediately identified himself and asked to speak to the manager. After the manager was informed of what the deal was he still wasn't too keen on honoring my replacement plan and offered to give me a pro-rated refund of the price of the plan. (I guess the part I already "used" didn't warrant me getting back a full refund). Anyway, the CS Rep ended up going to his boss and getting permission to send me a $250 gift card to buy a new PSP. When I asked him where I should mail the old one, he said "what are we going to do with a broken PSP? Keep it". I ended up mailing it up to some place in VA and paying $75 to replace the screen and selling the gift card over in classified and making $150 on the deal.

I was in the Brier Creek Kohl's this morning and I guess they're really pushing their credit line a lot harder than they used to. Between the front door and the men's section I overheard no less than three people get asked if they wanted "to save 15% on your purchase today," all politely denied of course. I quickened my step and kept my head lowered.

I was relieved to arrive in my oasis, mens pants (go ahead and run with that one tww), where I seemed to be the only beating heart for a good 10-rack radius. It was therapeutic, really, browsing the isles to a hopelessly bland soundtrack of aspiring John Mayers and amusing myself with the abominations passed off as "style." Upon first glance I feared I would never find anything that both fit me and didn't immediately peg me as an asshole but, never being one to back down from a challenge, I took my time selecting 4-5 pair and headed to the dressing room.

When I returned to the floor, my self-esteem now a shadow of its former self, a Kohl's ninja materialized from behind the Tony Hawk shirt rack. Through the most genuine of smiles she asked me if I had found everything alright. "Yes ma'am," replied I, courteously and with an air of avoidance as I scuttled away as tactfully as one may scuttle. It was an effort steeped in futility, for the inevitable crept over the racks, through the ether and into my spine like the piercing chill of blinding fear: "Are you a Kohl's card member? You could--"

I never heard the rest of her statement. She was drowned out by a deafening wail, not unlike air screaming its way out of a the stretched neck of a Hindenburg-sized rubber balloon. In a dizzying swirl of cognition it became evident to me that the brain-crushing caterwaul was in fact my soul tearing its way out of my ears. It took every ounce of gumption to stay my course and keep my tongue tied. After all, how dare she pounce on my wallet in my safe zone, with no register in sight? This was men's pants for crying out loud, there had to have been some misplaced bra somewhere that would have more urgently required her attention.

I made it to the checkout without incident. I don't know if it was the murderous look on my face or whether she made an assumption based on my generally impecunious style, but the girl behind the counter did not offer to save me 15%. And for that, I could have kissed her.

I picked up some shirts at Jos A Bank, and thought I was getting all tailored fit. After laundering them, i realized one was not. I returned to the store, and the salesman looked for a replacement, but gave me free tailoring, after he realized none were available.

You can't record a call in N.C. without the caller's permission.

The Radio Shack in Brier Creek gives A++ customer service. They were super helpful with my dad even when he was asking dumb questions when upgrading his phone

^^That's not true. You only need 1 party consent in NC. N.C. Gen Stat. §15A-287(a)

My customer service story: Ordered an item on ebay for Thanksgiving. Didn't show up exactly as pictured. Seller told me to keep the item, and she refunded my money.

Even if it were true, them informing you at the start of the call allows you to decide if you want to continue on with the call.

Have a set of Audioengine A2 desk speakers, power supply went bad last week. They are about 2 years old, emailed support they advised me to provide a shipping address and I had a new supply 2 days later, for free.
