... during the holidays?

I'm an avid reader of advice columns, and this time of year it's all about, "Is it OK if I treat my sister badly this Thanksgiving because she has treated me bad in the past?" Or, "Can I bring my own stuffing because I don't like my Mother-in-law's?" ... It's nothing but drama. Now my wife is starting to bug out for no apparent reason. What is so hard about visiting with family and friends?

I realize that women have been trained since birth to be acutely aware of social position and perceived slights. I am also aware that it is in their evolutionary DNA to identify and neutralize perceived threats in order to maintain their position, but can't we just turn down the sensitivity button, so the rest of us can have a good time?

lol, i'm doing the same thing. not with a mother-in-law but another family member's sig other.

i think people in general, some more than others, function best with order and consistency. holidays involve a lot of people being in the same (often tight) space and knocking our lives out of balance for a period of time. keeping things somewhat in order helps to maintain some sense of sanity, for me anyway. i wouldn't say i wig out over it, but i definitely try to set plans in place to prevent too much deviation from previous thanksgivings. christmas is much more relaxed for us because we have less people around.

So I didn't punch my cousin debbie in the face but I should have...


She showed up strung out on something...brought her 2 kids but didn't bother to bring a bottle or diapers or anything for the 10 month old

The 5 year old stayed in a bedroom by herself and said she was scared for all the people there...

I'm thinking something fucked up has happened to that kid because she used to be very outgoing and loving
