Neurosurgeons at a hospital in San Antonio are fighting to save the life of an 11-month old baby born with a rare condition that caused his head to swell to more than twice the normal size.

"Baby Klaus," as his parents and local media are calling him, was born with hydrocephalus, a build-up of excess fluid in the brain that has caused his head to swell to more than 130% larger than a typical newborn's head.

Wow. I've seen children with hydrocephalus and know one rather well, but I've never seen anything so severe. Usually, they put in a shunt to drain the excess fluid and the child leads a rather normal life.

I fucking don't understand the logic. Fighting to save the life of the most fucked up 11-month old head you ever did seee? You think he'll say thank you for having such a fun life if he survives?

Kill the damn thing.

Make a new baby.

There is no shortage of fucking babies that you have to fight for one that is so fucked up.

For me I don't really understand the point then of all this medical intervention. Bankrupt yourself into a life of poverty caring for a child that will never be able to care for himself.

most likely not no

I have never heard of a case where a child with severe hydrocephalus didn't have developmental delay or mental retardation.. and after they took so long to treat this child, I would bet a lot of money on him never being mentally (or physically) ok and fine
