Where was the best classroom you've had a class in? What was it like? Where was the worst?
Which building is your major anchored in? What are the class room and building facilities like there?
There have been a lot of threads comparing classes and professors, but maybe not so much with the place where they are taking place. 12/2/2010 4:07:46 AM |

For me...
Worst: Harrelson classrooms - uncomfortable seating, poorly designed building, small crammed rooms, low on education technology as in it felt like high school with chalk boards and some overheads, the air conditioning/heating situation was bad. I'm also not a big fan of the huge rooms for 100 to 200 students like I had for Chemistry and Psychology. Granted they're very utilitarian and appropriate for some subjects, but still not my fav.
Best: A classroom that had dual slide projectors, desk camera (if that's what you call it where it shows the paper you have displayed), hard wood floor, automated screens, blinds, surround sound speakers
Major: Tompkins/Caldwell/Winston - Its kind of a 3 for one since they're all connected. When in undergrad my philosophy was located in Winston, although many of my courses (including about 8 English courses) happened in Tompkins, and as a grad student in Public Administration, its centered in Caldwell. And of course the Tompkins computer lab & Caldwell computer lab are bonuses for being able to print and do work, as is the Caldwell lounge for readings & group meetings. And its nice to be close enough to Hillsborough to run over and grab a bite on break or just before/after class easily. 12/2/2010 6:12:32 AM |

Winston 01-04
These rooms hold between 30-50 wooden desks, yet they cram them with 50-80. The only good thing is when the girl in front of you leans forward and her thong rides up out of her jeans. You then spend the rest of the class period with your erect dick poking her in the middle of her back. That's how close the desks are in these classrooms.

Worst: Danials classrooms during the big renovations. Sweat inducing steam radiators everywhere, jack hammers pounding outside of the windows, middle school style transparency projectors, caked on engineer funk.
Best: The multimedia classrooms used for courses that are offered online. There was in the building behind Danials and I think there were a few in the EB buildings. Comfortable tables and a lot of great technology. 12/2/2010 5:12:34 PM |

Nelson classrooms are nice. Riddick is decent. The rest of main campus is poo.
I do enjoy the acoustics in the Poe auditorium class though.

Nothing can touch Harrelson when it comes to being bad. 12/3/2010 9:42:58 PM |

While Harrleson is bad, I never had too many compaints about them while I had classes there.
Winston however I will agree, classes there are wayy to cramped and the desks are meant for like elementary schoolers.
Best would be in eb2 or eb3. Probably eb3 except I dont like how they did the electrical connections on the desks 12/4/2010 10:27:05 AM |

The bottom floor of thompkins, the room all the way at the end of the building.
it was cold, damp, smelled awful, and there was a pillar in the middle of the room that blocked the view of the board
best was withers post-renovation.
(not including DE classes when my couch became my classroom...maybe not the best learning experience, but certainly the best "classroom")

I agree that Harrilson is the worst. Why are there so many bathroom stalls in the middle bathroom? There's more than there are at Carter-Finley! 12/4/2010 12:09:56 PM |

best: any room w/ tables.
worst: any room w/ tiny desk/chair combinations. these things are so uncomfortable and hard to write on. 12/4/2010 11:53:21 PM |

One of the cooler classrooms on campus. I've had classes hold class out here before:

hahaha oh man any of you guys remember back when Leazar was the CSC lab building? I used to teach up on the very top floor. The heat was always on and it stunk like a lan party in the BAR all the time.12/9/2010 9:47:50 AM |
