So what are some pluses and minuses of dating someone that's not 21, besides the obvious part of having to choose which places to go out at night? I'm in professional school, while I had a girl that's an undergrad over tonight that isn't quite 21. Gonna go to a place tomorrow night for an ugly Christmas sweater party here in Philly that isn't technically a bar, so I invited her since they can't deny her service. I've never done this. In the past I've only dated girls that were within a year or so of me.

I dated a girl a couple years ago who was 20 and played volleyball on scholarship for Catawba.

Everything physical aside, it stunk not being able to go out for a drink, even though that wasn't too big a deal...mostly she was just immature, like most 19-20 year olds. Combine that with not being all that smart, and it didn't last too long.

I can't say that I was anymore mature, but most of the things that came out of her mouth made me put my head in my hands. I realized pretty quickly the value of someone you could have intelligent conversations with.

She could bullshit well, but it got to a point where I realized I really couldn't bring up anything beyond movies/TV shows/music/sports without boring/confusing her, and that got a little old.

Plus, I don't think she'd really dated anyone seriously before...she had done the club volleyball thing in HS and traveled/practiced constantly, which didn't give her time for much else. So when we started dating, she acted like I'd imagine a 10th grader would about the whole thing.

By best friend started dating a 20 year old when he was 30. They are still together, and even live together (he is 32, she's 22). Until she turned 21 it seriously put a damper on all of us going out as a crowd.
