How exactly does that work? Can you give me a scenario?

For example,

I work 25% of the year so I will travel to a location on a Monday and come back on Thursday night. I will travel again in about a month

I have a friend who's a firefighter for the is forest service. He'll be gone for 3 months at a time during summer fire season. Hour wise that's half the year since he works 16 hr days.

it depends on the nature of the job. 50% travel can mean either plan on being on the road for 3-4 days/week every week, for a whole month every other month, or any combination therein. i'd ask about it at the interview if you think it may be a problem.

i, for one, do not enjoy business travel, as it always feels like i'm "at work" from the time leave for the airport until the time i get back home.

you definitely have to have the stomach for that shit

travelling that much gets old. quick. to the point where your own house seems foreign to you.

My job can be like that, depending on the customer. My gig I travel usually every third week, where I fly out early Monday and get back home Thursday evening.

There are some guys who do it longer (mon through fri) or are gone much more often. Like on the scale of Monday through Friday for months at a time.

You need to ask though, 25% can mean gone 1-2 days a week or 1 week a month, or 1 month every quarter.

You DEFINITELY have to have a stomach for it. Being away from home so long can suck. If you do it right though, the perks can really add up (hotel/airline/car points, saving $ on food, etc).

I think it would be really cool if you were single.

My boss lives in Virginia but spends 5-6 days a week in NC. The past 2 months he has been in Philly helping them get their market launched, and will be there through the end of the year. It just really sucks for him because he has a wife and 2 little kids.

I'm about to fly out to Germany for my 7th week straight of travel. The week after that I'll be in California for my 8th straight week of travel. Then I finally get to spend a few weeks without work travel for the holidays...although I'll be traveling to see family, so I still won't see my house much.

My rated travel for my job is 33% We just happened to be slammed this time of year. I gotta push back hard to get my life back to normal after the new year.

I would not recommend a job with anything above 10% travel unless you are single or do not enjoy seeing your significant other.

The worst part of business travel: eating alone half the time.

not including last week, or next week.

What's even sadder... this is only one particular hotel chain.
