That's part of the problem. The only reason the guy was around was to make sure the record hit a round number that is divisible by many other numbers. It's kind of ridiculous to hit 300 just for the sake of getting to 300 and nothing more.

I suspect he'll really be retiring now that the record has ended at 297.

Apparently, he is asking to be moved to IR now since the shoulder won't be healed by the end of the season that is down the drain anyway.

That way he can collect his game checks and he wouldn't be required to talk to the media anymore.

Looks like he has played his last down in the league.
