^ That's true. But I think we have a larger opportunity for distraction now while having less real incentive to work hard. (You won't starve if you TWW all afternoon)

I would say that's true, but I wonder how much our relative peace and prosperity plays into it more than technological innovation.

I've wondered how Rome fared at the height of it's empire. There was a period of around 200 years where they maintained relative peace. I wonder if the citizenry behaved a lot like us.
