I'm not quite married, but engaged, get along great with the family but...

1. No one drinks alcohol
2. No one drinks coffee
3. They love to shop (sitting on a couch at department store right now)
4. AK is cold.

Nobody sucks they are all good people. My family tends to drink and party a little more so I'm used to that style celebration. I have occasionally drank a few beers when at their house but I don't go out of my way to bring alcohol into a home which has none.

Alaska is cold due to far north lattitude and proxity to the pole.

I, too, am spending Christmas with my fiancé's family.

His grandma is dying. She probably won't make it to New Years...

It's just really depressing seeing her in this state, and also hearing her say things like she wishes she wouldn't wake up. :/

I love my family and all, but...

1) My family members that used to drink can't anymore because it interferes with medication.
2) My family lives in a dry county.
3) My family lives in a place that is a good forty minutes away from anything resembling civilization (or anywhere with an average age below 74)

Nobody on my mom's side drinks but they are all pretty awesome people.

Most people on my dad's side drink though, and they are also awesome people.

I can never relate to people who don't like spending time with the family on holidays.
