Yesterday morning, my friends Jenna and her fiance Wes lost their home to a fire (http://www.wral.co/news/local/story/8813267/). Jenna just gave birth to their second daughter, and they could really use some help.

Jenna's dad set up a paypal account for donations: edelkampfire@yahoo.com

I'm also collecting household goods, clothes, baby items, etc. Please PM me if you have anything to donate and I'll pick it up.

And AlanM2388 started a Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_186675581347622&id=186773571337823&bcode=_nFpG#!/home.php?sk=group_186675581347622 if you want more info or updates on how the family is doing.

Please do what you can to help some really amazing people.

Thanks

Don't know if you saw this in the GOLO comments from the above link:

Also, I just found out that begonias and I have two mutual friends.

she's ~5'9'' but just had a baby so I'd say 14/large and 9 or 10 for shoes

he's ~5'8'' and 165lbs

I just spoke to her and they were able to salvage some stuff

I asked what she needed the most, and she said a place to live

Honestly I think they need money the most. Wes is the type who always tries to handle everything and not ask for help, but I know they were struggling before the fire and had just lost their car a few weeks ago.

We have a TV they can have. Nothing fancy but we were going to be donating to Goodwill anyway.

I thought it was illegal to not have homeowner's insurance if you're paying the mortgage on it. Did they have the house paid off? Or were they renting?

Im not sure it is illegal, but no lender will loan to you unless you have insurance. (to protect their investment). That is why most have you include it in your mortgage payment so they make sure the insurance is paid.

I'm fairly certain that WRAL link is to an apartment fire, and most apartments don't "require" insurance, even if it is a good idea. Sent some money their way, and already got a thank you back. I hope they're able to get back on their feet soon.
