I understand your point here, but if you consider what a big rock symbolizes then you will see the fallacy of it all. A big rock is basically the symbol of a man swooping into a woman's life to take care of her forever, and so the symbolism is anti-feminist in nature.

A feminist would not want a glaring sign on her arm showing the world that her man takes care of her. A housewife, however and probably without realizing it, proudly displays this fact off to society.

i also think this logic is a little flawed.
i think this is what the ring USED to mean.
i wear an engagment ring, proudly show it, and im pretty sure everyone knows i dont expect cody to "take care" of me (at least in the sense of a housewife/money type of thing )

^^^ funny thing. a girlfriend of mine changed hers and told me the same thing.
she's now divorced and says shes not changing her name back because she doesn't want to have to go through it all again. (i found that really funny)

but i think in my case it may be extra complicated.
i have a LOT of things in my name than i think most people my age do (ie- a house, stocks, school records, etc)


that and my mom told me its not really worth it in her opinion (shes married still and changed her name too)

I changed mine and have a lot of things in my name, and I dropped my maiden bc I go by my first and middle name. I formerly was of the "i'm not changing my name" camp, but wanted to with Justin. Then again, i'm of the camp that being feminist is more than not changing your name, being a career woman, being in control and assertive, and an advocate of Women's rights. I think a stay at home mom that took her husband's name can be just as much of a feminist as a woman that doesn't.

But that's just me.
