you are confusing pub with irish pub... it was far from that - needed more dark wood, less light, tighter quarters, and more stouts!

they were 50/50 on getting food out in a reasonable time. I did have some long waits before though

the only times i had shitty service at jax was when we sat at the tables. and i mean EVERY time we sat at the tables. the chicks who worked there were some of the dumbest i've come across. if we were sitting at the bar everything was quick & the bartender was awesome. especially vic

it didn't help that I went there for lunch on weekdays with coworkers and sat at the tables. We probably got the staff on the shifts they hated working. When I lived on Lake Dam and used to go there in the evenings, the service was always respectable. A couple of the servers were dumb, but no dumber than anything I've encountered at Sammy's or Ruckus during that same timeframe.

the food was the only thing that kept us coming back. Their buffalo sandwich was one of the best I've had, and there were a few other things on the menu that were very good for bar food. The wings were pretty cheap a couple of nights each week as well. The prices kept creeping up though, and I always had the feeling that the waitstaff was robbing the register.

There was a lot of blow running through Jax. At least there was when I lived in Raleigh. That's actually why that lady got 86'd years ago...

but mmmmmm, they did have a declicious buffalo chx sandwich.

There were a couple of thug-wannabe coke dealers that hung out at the bar at Jax, and apparently one of them watched too many gangster movies. The way they killed that waitress was beyond fucked up.

I went to Jax maybe 3 times ever, which is sad considering that from late '03 to early '10 I never lived more than a mile from the place. I just couldn't ever vibe with it, even though I was friends with a few of the girls that worked there. A friend of mine knows the new owner of GSP and has high hopes for his vision for the place. Supposedly he's gay and there was some talk of it becoming a gay bar, but who knows. Talk is cheap and beer is beer.

Back in the day the service at Jax and the food was pretty damn good. It sure went down the shitter though. The last time I went the damn cheese fries were cold and it took for fucking ever to get the food. (was not even in there drinking this was during lunch time)

The thing that brought the lol for me was that one person/unisex bathroom (like gas station size) they installed when they made the front of the building go all the way to the edge of the porch. They might as well have put a sign up calling it a cocaine booth.

^^you didn't want to go on karaoke unless you want to be there for karaoke... it was really loud and you had to order beer by the bucket load if you continually wanted to have beer. Fun if you knew what you were expecting, but if you weren't expecting it, I could totally see how you wouldn't like it


also, I didn't know the sentence those guys had gotten. Good to know- but I thought NC had suspended the death penalty for the time being
