I am totally fucked son. My sleep cycle became reversed over the break due to a number of factors.

I now sleep all day and I'm awake all night. My sleep schedule must be corrected as of tomorrow. I cannot miss more than 1 day of school. The only solution I can think of is to stay up as long as I can today and then, when I do pass out, I must attempt to sleep through the rest of the day and all night. The goal of this being to sleep until 5:50AM tomorrow.

What say ye, asshole son?

this is a pretty common occurence with me, especially during exam weeks.

you just have to stay up all night and all day one day, and then go to bed at a normal time.

how long have you been in college? this is pretty common knowledge.

This can't be done for reasons I cannot disclose.

This is what I do to combat jet lag Take the pills at 7pm, fall asleep by 9am, make sure to wake up on time in the morning. Do for two days and you're usually good to go.

^ I used to do that and drink a beer.

[Edited on January 5, 2011 at 3:48 PM. Reason : Back in 2007. I did that for like a month straight. Then I was like, "This can't be healthy."]

melatonin might help you get it straightened out if you take it nightly for a couple weeks. resist your impulse to up the dose, it is most effective in a dose range of .2-2mg depending upon the person. benadryl and other sleep aids available OTC result in high tolerance quickly and then eventually you don't really sleep anyway, so eventually you'll have some rebound insomnia if you go that route. remember to take your sleep meds at least 8 and preferrably 9 or 10 hours before you have to wake up.

then if you can't fall asleep or wake up at the wrong time, stay in the dark and don't start doing stuff because you're bored. 20-30 minutes of counting to a billion in the dark is better than losing 2-3 hours of sleep if you try to do something productive instead.

when i was in college, i developed a circadian rhythm disorder and i was instructed to go to bed at a normal time (even if i had not been up long) and then have someone wake me up to eat breakfast in front of a bright light or in direct sunlight. do this every day for a week and then bump the time back 30 minutes each week until you are waking up when you need to naturally
