I remember hearing about this a while back but forgot about it until the Skins thread. I googled it and it looks like it starts tomorrow. I enjoyed the UK version and am cautiously optimistic to see how this will translate. Being on premium cable should help smooth the transition. I remember hearing that Emmy Rossum gets naked in at least the first episode, so I know plenty of people will be watching for that reason alone. Plus William H. Macy is awesome as well (for completely different reasons)

I'll give it a shot, at least until the William H. Macy nudity outpaces the Emmy Rossum nudity.

Also I think it's funny that Showtime is airing this immediately after another show all about how adapting UK shows for the US is a terrible idea.

have made it through the first season of the british show this is based on - they literally copied everything to a T - even a few of the episodes are word for word the exact same

the british version made it quite a few seasons so we'll see how the one here does

Hopefully it will be like the office and they will let the US writers loosen up their restraints a bit. I never could get into the UK version at all, but I really like the US version so far.

Some thoughts on the finale:
-Hopefully Steve is gone for good, I don't care for the character or the actor
-Frank's tirades in the bar are pretty much like nails on a chalkboard to me
-Lip pissing on Frank at the end was amusing, but in no way did it redeem Frank for all of the horrible shit he's done...I'm only slightly more sympathetic towards him at the end of the episode than I was before.
-Emmy Rossum was fantastic as usual, if the show focused on her and the kids exclusively I think it would be a lot stronger.
-the Joan Cusack/whore daughter storyline isn't doing anything for me at this point, I hope they discard that entirely for the second season.

First season was awesome. So far this season, it's been hit or miss, but still pretty good. Rossum is soooo hot. Macy makes the show. He's a straight up sociopath. But they still try to make you believe he has a conscience.
