Does anyone know where to find this in Raleigh? Also, a sushi restaurant that serves sashimi (prime) beef would be great too.

thx

My best guesses would be Sullivan's or The Peddler. Could try giving them a call and seeing if they have the option available.

it's what the japanese call a certain type of blowfish. they have poisonous parts and you have to be careful when you cut them up.

nailed it.

I'd like to try making it but I'd need prime beef and I'd probably cut the edges off very thinly and put it through a meat grinder (which I'd also have to buy). Seasoning it wouldn't be difficult but it still seems like a lot of trouble.

Kobe Beef Carpaccio at McCormick and Schmicks.
Steak Tartare at Herons
plenty of places have it on daily specials but not on the normal menu.

it isn't like it's a hard item to find.

i agree -- the title should have read "Where can I find steak tartare, as a regular menu item, not just a once in a while daily special type of item? I want to be able to find that shit any fucking time I want. I don't want to have to call ahead and see if they have it that day"

Tuna Tartare I had last weekend at Sullivan's. They did not have Steak Tartare on the menu.
