I guess actual literacy rates among residents aren't relevant.
At least 30% of the D.C. population is functionally illiterate, including local government.1/15/2011 4:39:33 AM |

Wow, that's pathetic that Raleigh is one of the most Literate cities in the US. I tell you son, that demonstrates why nobody in this country can speak their own language. All these "we speak English hur" fools piss me off. They they trash foreigners for not being able to speak English well, when they can't speak it either, dumbasses.

you know that literacy and speaking a language are not the same thing, right?1/15/2011 10:44:20 AM |

It's all associated son, one comes with the other (Except in the most unusual of circumstances, perhaps). I simply stated that this demonstrates why people can't speak in their own language. If you can't read then you sure as hell can't write or speak properly either unless it's some kind of very rare circumstance, as I just mentioned. Am I perfect at any of this? No, I'm simply stating that people who make these idiotic statements about how foreigners need to learn to speak English often can't speak (Or write or read) it themselves.
^^ Yeah, the word they was repeated during the edit. You're perfectly aware that this was a simple editing error.

In addition to Raleigh being the most smartest at readings, we're also one of the most tolerantest too!

Quote : | "As the country commemorates Martin Luther King Day and reflects on Tucson, The Daily Beast crunches the numbers to rank the tolerances of every state across America. How did yours stack up?
In the four-plus decades since Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, America has surely moved closer to a country where people are judged more by content of their character than the color of their skin—or their gender, religion or sexual orientation. In honor of today’s national holiday, and mindful of the debate fostered by the massacre in Tucson nine days ago, The Daily Beast sought to examine which states are the most tolerant, devising a thorough point system that measures each state’s residents based on their actions and opinions, as well the scope of state laws guaranteeing equal rights and protections, which reflects the broader political will." |
Quote : | "The Daily Beast's List of the 20 Most Tolerant States
1. Wisconsin 2. Maryland 3. Illinois 4. Pennsylvania 5. Hawaii 6. California 7. Minnesota 8. New Jersey 9. New Hampshire 10. New Mexico 11. Virginia 12. Iowa 13. North Carolina 14. Connecticut 15. Florida 16. Louisiana 17. New York 18. Massachusetts 19. West Virginia 20. Nevada " |

The heart-stress death rate for workers in the state is 2.36 per 100,000. Even the second worst state, Florida, boasts a much healthier rate of 0.76 per 100,000." |

According to recent census data:
http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/01/23/938123/raleigh-no3-in-gay-parents.html
Quote : | "Raleigh No. 3 in gay parents
Raleigh is one of the highest-ranked metropolitan areas in the nation for gay parents. Nearly one-third of the same-sex couples who live here are raising children under the age of 18.
The American Community Survey says Raleigh has the third-highest percentage of same-sex couples with kids among metro areas that have a population of more than 1 million." |
Quote : | "Ian Palmquist, executive director of Equality North Carolina, a gay rights organization, was not surprised to hear Raleigh ranked so high.
"Gay people from the more rural communities move to the Triangle because it is much more friendly and more supportive," he said. "We know there are many same-sex couples raising children in North Carolina."" |
