I can see this as being a good thing. Without having the backboard they have to concentrate more on the release and power of their shots ( becaus the backboard is used to help locate the basket ) . This could actually be beneficial.


But yea. That sucks that they don't have a backboard.

I like it

1. It's cheaper. You don't have to pay for expensive composite backboards. This will eventually translate to cheaper game tickets and paraphernalia
2. It's more competitive. The NBA is stacked with superstars. This will even it out a bit
3. More exercise for today's obese youth as they have to chase stray shots

the backboard was originally created to keep fans from interfering with the game. so, yeah, i guess you don't really need it when your playing in the parking lot of a safeway.
