Subject: Slavery at the Super Bowl

Tell the Super Bowl Host Committee: Don't be a bystander to child trafficking
Sign the Petition

Dear ________,

Every year, children as young as 11 are trafficked involuntarily to Super Bowl cities. There, football fans – usually men, often inebriated – will pay traffickers to have sex with them.

The Texas Attorney General estimates these kids have a life expectancy of just seven years from the time they're first trafficked.

This year, the Super Bowl Host Committee is charged "to engage in responsible planning . . . to ensure the readiness of North Texas to host the first Super Bowl in the Cowboys’ new stadium."

Local anti-trafficking groups have repeatedly offered to help the Committee use its influence to educate fans and the public about the dangers of child trafficking -- which could help to prevent thousands of rapes and abuses at America's biggest sporting event.

But the Host Committee has refused to take meaningful action. And thousands of children will pay the price.

Tell the 2011 Super Bowl Host Committee to take a stand against child trafficking.

In Dallas, a terrific local organization called Traffick911 has created the "I'm Not Buying It" campaign. They've offered the Host Committee free PSAs, posters, banners and informational cards to educate the public and protect children from being abused and raped.

But the Host Committee refuses to display the information.

The Committee is working hard right now to generate good publicity for North Texas and the game, so public pressure at this moment will be especially powerful.

Tell the Super Bowl Host Committee that they have a responsibility to protect the children who'll be trafficked to Texas for the Super Bowl: <link removed>

After you sign, please forward this email to friends and family to let them know about this crisis, and how they can help.

Thanks for taking action,

- Patrick and the Change.org team

P.S. Once you add your name, click here to share this campaign on Facebook. <FB link removed>

Well I don't want children traffiked during the Super Bowl. Any other time, sure, but it's the damn Super Bowl, people!!!

(This sounds like a ploy to raise awareness about human trafficking. 'Ya know, if we attach it to some huge event, it'll get linked/emailed across the united states...hey, everyone watches the Super Bowl!)

if you're driving at night and approach a car with its lights off, DO NOT FLASH YOUR LIGHTS AT THEM, because they are probably part of a gang and they're being initiated and if you flash your lights at them they will chase you down and shoot you in the face.

luckily Jacksonville and Tampa Bay both suck.

Are you all denying that human trafficking is a major problem, or just that you don't think the super bowl is a big enough attraction for sex workers to flock to?

^ well, since you asked....

i'm saying that this is a scam foisted upon a well-intentioned but barely-cognizant public by some Bible Thumpers from Podunk County, Texas, who want a piece of the multi-million dollar action already being tasked by state and federal law enforcement to combat the normally expected amounts of prostitution (child and otherwise) that naturally occur in a modern society around any major public event

and that this religious organization (the 911 in Traffick911 stands for Psalms 9:11, by the way) is committed to combating the "slavery of American children" which is nice and good and all but they frame it as if football fans and super bowl attendees are the prime source and/or cause of human trafficking in America today, as being a bunch of drunken pedophile men looking to sodomize some 9 year olds.

when, in fact, barely 3% of the global source of human trafficking originates in America, that even the United Nations recognizes that the vastly under reported amounts of human trafficking is foreign MEN who are trapped into slave labor by withholding passports in foreign countries until they pay off a ridiculous amount of "debt".

this religious org, Traffick911, is partnered with a fuckton of other religious nutjob orgs, who all stand to get a piece of the action if Traffick911 is able to force their way into the logistical planning of Law Enforcement prioritization around the Super Bowl, as they intend to do.

I wonder if there's any coincidence that many of their "faith-based" partners happen to support legislation that looks to reduce or ban the consumption and/or sale of alcoholic beverages in their respective areas of influence.

but i digress. sign the petition, reduce "slavery" and "human trafficking" by some dubious amount for one day, and then you can spend the remaining 364 days of the year guilt-free reading your bible or working to ban alcohol sales on Sunday or something.

yeah, okay. i should have put this in TSB. or CC.
