Seeking a percussionist for an acoustic cover project.
Djembe, Congas, etc.
Don't need to have an elaborate percussion setup or flashy chops. I'm looking for an in the pocket rhythm anchor to accompany guitar, keys, and vox, but please at least be proficient with your percussion instrument of choice.
Covers span a few decades and include songs from The Beatles, CCR, The Band, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, and Rolling Stones
Shoot me a message if you're interested, and let me know about your experience, gear, etc. 1/19/2011 12:52:21 PM |

Where are all of the percussionists in Raleigh? I'd prefer somebody that plays the djembe, but i'm open, as long as you have a good sense of rhythm and a general understanding of music. I'm looking for someone to emulate a kit to a certain degree, as opposed to alternating rhythms typical of a percussion section
Hey Kev, If you want to shoot me your email address, I can send you over a couple tracks. 2/1/2011 11:11:43 AM |

If this will be a paying gig, I'll send you my brother's contact information. He's got the "mad skillz" but he doesn't work for free. 2/2/2011 11:59:07 PM |

theitalian, I would definitely be open to the cajon - Those things are great and about as close as you can get to a kit sound in a compact setup. Let me know if you want to come play. I can send you a few songs from the set.
Darkone, these will be paying gigs but this will not be something to pay the rent on...probably a couple gigs a month. It would definitely be worth talking with your brother about rates, style, etc. If you want to shoot me a pm, we can take it from there.
I've had one other percussionist out but not considering it auditions as much as just trying to find the best fit for the sound, regarding instrument of choice, feel, etc.
Let me know gentlemen 2/3/2011 10:22:39 AM |

I've got a djembe from Ghana, but I'm not exactly in North Carolina. Sounds like a fun-ish gig, though. 4/30/2011 11:36:44 PM |
