With all the articles being written lately about law schools I thought it might be interesting to just make a blog that essentially is my law school experience. Not so much a blog where i complain about this or that (trust me, there are plenty of angry law students doing that already) but I have to take notes everyday already, I would learn just as easily (actually easier i'd imagine) if i was writing for an audience at all times. I think people would enjoy it for several reasons but i'd love some feedback.
I'll post: - what my reading materials are and perhaps small excerpts (not trying to run afoul of copyright laws) - notes or summaries - class discussions - alot of the times current events are very relevant so it's a good opportunity to see real world applications
questions ultimately are: would you read it, what would you like to see, and would you partake in the discussion?

After working at a law firm for almost 2 years, I can be honest when I say hell no, I would not read it.
No offense or anything. :\
However, if I were actually interested in law, I feel like it could be useful... Are law classes similar across schools and would people not in your specific program benefit from it? 1/20/2011 4:38:58 PM |

1) if you're interested in going to law school it would be nice to get a sneak peek 2) if you like reading about stupid people/assholes then you'll get a kick out of it 3) if you feel strongly about politics, it's probably best you know what the rules actually are as opposed to what you feel they should be
i can name a million reasons just doing my homework fascinates me but i could be just one of the few that enjoys it
for example, one of our very first reading assignments was about a fox chase and a guy that captured another hunter's fox out of the blue. it was one of the single most interesting things i've ever read, due partly to the fact it's in olde english and half-absurd. 1/20/2011 4:46:37 PM |

i think its an alright idea.
this probably the wrong sample to ask whether a person would read it or not 1/20/2011 4:50:57 PM |

true, i imagine my own peers will comment enough to be worth it based on what i see on facebook
btw, i wish facebook had a "post status to group" function, i realize not everyone wants to see what we're up to in law school and i've hidden people from my update list when i see that they are constantly posting relatively uninteresting updates to the majority of us 1/20/2011 4:56:45 PM |

This would be more boring than if I started a blog about soil engineering.

I had business law as one of my classes last semester and holy shit, I've never had to study so hard to just make a B. The professor, who was also a lawyer, was actually pretty good and I enjoyed his class, but it was hard to sit for 3 hours and discuss law. It wasn't as bad as I was dreading it after signing up, but if I didn't have to do it, I wouldn't have done it. It was interesting nonetheless. 1/20/2011 6:18:23 PM |

Good luck finding a job when you get out...
Actually I'm teetering on what exactly to do grad school for... Accountancy... MBA w/ a focus... or Law. A friend says I should do them all, like him (... CPA, CMA, CFA, and a JD (holy fucking hell))

The material you've listed so far sounds really, really boring.
But if you're a good writer, I suppose I might be able to make myself read it.
