yuck. i think the village deli has gone majorly downhill since their revamp a few years back.

at least in deli sandwiches. i have had a salad that was pretty good.

well now instead of like piles of meat on the sandwiches (yea yea, piles of meat) its like the hormel stacked kind straight from a package. so like, a piece of meat, a piece of cheese, in between not very good, dry bread.

i feel like the sandwiches there used to be decent. the past 2-3 times i've been i have hated it. best way to describe the sandwiches (or the ones i've had there the past few times) are like those pre made gas station sandwiches on white bread. you know, like this kind...except at VD they had like 1/2 as much meat. i was tres disappoint.

Their meatball sub still kicks ass. One of the best in Raleigh.
I generally get that or the specials which are also pretty good. Can't remember the last time I got a regular "deli sandwich" there.

village deli was killer two renovations ago

not so killer after the first renovation...a lot less meat, etc., but they still employed hippies and still used good ingredients

now it's garbage

the bread sucks and the meat sucks now (at least on cold deli sandwiches)
