Just moved back to the area...the one up on Hillsborough any good? Last I remember it had a layer of smoke that started 3 inches below the ceiling.

I remember the Hillsborough IHOP. The main draw was you got to see the freaks that never came out in daylight hours. Sometimes the clientele were strange too.

The general assembly solved that problem for you, its still mediocre, but good at 2 in the morning.

That's an International House of Pancakes not an IHOP

real freaks go to wafflehouse at 4am. That's where all the 80 year old retiree guys show up with a meth dealer lookin dude and a 14 year old girl with panties on in 20 degree weather

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

Durrr thats a Kentucky Fried Chicken, not a KFC

um, yeah. anyhow.

IHOP maybe has a little better food quality than Waffle House, but there are more freaks at the Hillsborough IHOP than the Hillsborough Waffle House ... if only because Merideth sloots and NCSU frat boys go to the Waffle House, while the downtown meth heads and other assorted freaks are closer to the IHOP

My main beef with IHOP is that they've been continuously jacking up their prices over the years without increasing quality at all. That and the waitresses always get pissy when I don't want to order a full-order of pancakes. I can't fit that much food in my tummy in one sitting

It's called leftovers. You take whatever you don't finish home with you.

i don't know, all-you-can-eat harvest grain pancakes for $5 doesn't seem any higher than it used to be

i guess it may have been $4 at some point

^^ They have on their damn menu a-la-carte pancakes. If I want just one pancake then I can order it according to their menu. Not my fault their servers don't know their own menu

As far as prices go, when you can go to other restaurants that also serve pancakes, use better ingredients, and they're the same price as IHOP, it makes you wonder

So true.

Though when I make pancakes at home I always make too many then spend the rest of the day eating room temperature pancakes as a snack

a. How do you know what ingredients are being used for any of the places?

b. How do you know they use better ingredients? What if you just like the taste of shitty ingredients? Shitty ingredients in your perspective would taste better.

A. People who don't take food for granted.
B. People who don't waste their money.

will they let you take the all-you-can-eat ones home? if you liked cold pancakes you could order another round and not touch it, hahaha

still want to be sociable and/or
don't have time to go home and/or
don't have time to cook and/or
suck at cooking and/or
know that things always taste better when someone else cooks it and/or
likes IHOP pancakes.

I don't think I've ever ordered breakfast at a restaurant while sober.

no one said it was good. just marginally better than Waffle House.

anyhow, you're missing the point. the purpose of this place is to watch freaks at 2:30 am and/or take your hangover on Sunday late morning and make faces at the church people. you're sadly mistaken if you choose this place thinking you're going to get quality.

anyhow, can you imagine being an IHOP server? Single babymommas who got to feed and clothe three babies from three different deadbeat dads? No doubt they're gonna get pissed at some lamer who comes and takes up their booth to order one fucking pancake.

Nothing to do with knowing the menu. No server wants to put up with that kind of bullshit.

He's right! What's 20% tip off a $1 pancake? 20 cents.

and a person who orders one fucking pancake is gonna be the person who regularly leaves 10% tips, if anything.

if you too cheap to eat at a restaurant, then stay the fuck home.

I'm not just ordering one pancake. They got bacon and shit there too And I never go to IHOP by myself. That would just be depressing

The best freak show in town was the Daylight Diner on Glenwood Avenue. I loved going there at 2am after getting off work and watching the parade of people going in there. It's a shame they tore it down.

We used to have this waiter named Roy at like 4 in the morning every time we'd go. He had this disgusting infected cut on his leg that he insisted on showing us every time we'd come in. That was 4 years ago...I figure if the drugs haven't killed him by now, the gangrene has.
