first, you should purchase an assorted pack of commas, periods, and semi-colons. then use them liberally.

the only thing i could find about clear vinyl was someone who said the carbon black used for standard vinyl records somehow negatively affects playback from the cartridge, but i don't know how true that is or if it even matters.

clear vinyl is less stable and more prone to warpage than standard black, which shouldn't matter if you take care of your stuff

also clear discs are not compatible with a specific strain of automatic turntable from the '70s that used a light sensor to tell if the platter was loaded, should you happen to have one

otherwise, shit is cool

how limited is the clear?

What album is it? Is it limited print?

Do whatever the fuck makes you happy. I have a bunch of records on clear/colored vinyl and there is no difference in sound.

Whatever you do, just please stop making shitty threads like this.

to be honest, i have no idea. i haven't been into vinyl for all that long. i was just at a record store here in washington dc, and they had a clear vinyl copy of exile on main street by the rolling stones, which is one of my favorite albums. there was a sticker on it that said it was a pretty rare limited edition thing. i just didn't know if it was worth spending $40 bucks on it, and i imagine if it was THAT big of a deal it'd probably cost more than that. plus, it was re-released last year, so the more i think about it, the more i figure it probably isn't much to get excited about. but like i said, i'm not really all that knowledgeable about this shit at the moment.

I picked up several Rolling Stones vinyls at a yard sale last weekend.
No Exile on Main Street, but I did get the "Sticky Fingers" LP with the zipper on the cover.

i've got an old joan of arc album, old twelve hour turn/i hate myself split, and old jejune albums on clear vinyl. never had any problems with them or any other colored vinyl

idk why im mentioning this

but i dont see why it would prevent you from buying something you want

I got 21 records for $15. Almost all classic rock...Several records by Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, CCR, etc.

I'm just trying to figure out if there's any other value in paying an extra 15 bucks for it other than saying "hey look at this cool clear vinyl copy i have"

that's the only added value. clear vinyl sounds fine

picture discs on the other hand sometimes sound like shit

Probably won't bother in that case. I could use the extra cash towards some other things i have my eye on that are out of print
