for example, you're on a 4-lane divided road that's not very busy (say, cary parkway) and you're doing 20mph over and a cop coming the other way clocks you, hits his lights, slams on the brakes to make a u-turn at the next break in the median and you floor it to turn into a neighborhood before he can catch you...and you watch as he drives past on the main road...ever done that?

actually, i have, once. on blue ridge road and lake boone trail at about 1 am. i was definitely going about 10 over the speed limit, and i'm not 100% sure he was coming for me, but I took the left turn onto lake boone trail as i saw him making the u-turn in my rearview.

i was speeding on one of the side streets in Wilmington (might have been Covil, i remember it led out onto Market)

and i saw a cop sitting in a parking lot and he pulled out a few seconds after i passed, but didnt have his lights on

i was able to weave in and out of traffic on Market and i think i eventually turned onto Kerr to lose him

it could have all been in my head though (maybe he wasn't coming after me)

I have taken precautions by turning into random neighborhoods when I thought they were U-turning to get me... it's not running away if they weren't behind you with lights on

Security guards and rent a cops, several times.

Real cops, once, and it was more fast walking and stashing the duffel bag of Natty Light in the bushes before he stopped me.

Friend of mine has a 3000GT Vr-4 with a turbo upgrade. He escaped a cop on the way back from Boone years ago. I'm not sure if he was on the interstate or one of the more local roads.

yes. the most recent was december 09, it was about 4:30am and i was driving to my grandmother's land to hunt the morning. i was doing about 55-60 on a windy country road with no one around. i reach the crest of a hill and there is a sheriff's deputy driving passed me. He slams on his breaks at the top of the hill as i'm heading down and turns his lights on. He couldn't really whip it around so he must have had to make a 3-point turn or something. But i kept my speed and got up to about 70, and since i knew the roads so well and was only about 2 miles from my grandmother's house i cut my lights and drove the rest of the way in the pitch black. Pulled into her driveway, killed my engine, and sat still. Deputy came flying by the house about a minute later with his lights on.

thank goodness too, because i was still on probation at the time and wasn't legally allowed to be in possession of a firearm.

Ran from the cops a ton as a kid. We were always doing stupid shit like ringing and running, starting bonfires in the woods, etc. But we could also navigate our neighborhood/woods with our eyes closed. We could run circles around the cops.

It was pretty fun back in the day. I'm pretty sure I've seen cops turn around while I've been driving and I've meandered through a neighborhood to lose them...but nothing sticks in out in my head.

i did this once, but it really wasn't all that cool. i was only doing 5 over and so he was probably turning around for a totally unrelated reason - but it allowed me to feel like a badass for 5 seconds.

i've been pulled by a cop who saw someone in the same model and color car as mine driving too fast.

when he got to the window he was all "wait, you're not the woman i saw driving...make sure to wear you seatbelt and have a good day"

Twice that stick out.

1) I was in cary at 2 or 3 am and ran a red light since no one was coming (i think harrison and maynard). As I did it I looked to my left and saw that there was a cop in the parking lot across from where i was. I booked it and then made a quick right into a parking lot that I believe is an entrance to a park, turned off my lights, and sat. Within 30 seconds I saw the cop speeding in the direction he saw me go. I waited for a few minutes and then took another way home.

2) The other time I was in a school zone and passed a cop who was traveling in the other direction. I saw him immediately try to turn around but the street we were on was busy and it took him a moment. That gave me just enough time to turn on the next street and hide. Again, I saw the cop fly past me.

3 times.

1. One time cop on the other side of the street made a u-turn but I pulled into a neighborhood, then pulled into someone's driveway, shutoff my lights, and ducked in the car. Cop drove by without knowing.

2. One time on the highway where I was tailing another speeding car and the cop flashed his lights behind me and then pulled alongside me on the left side and signalled me to pull over, then he went and got the car in front of me to do the same. So there I was sitting in the shoulder observing the cop parked in front of me giving the other guy the ticket first. So I made a dash for it again and sped off. Heck I wasn't going to just sit there and let the cop come back and give me a ticket.

3. When I was younger I was a pyro. I was lighting up some trash in the middle of a restaurant parking lot and I saw the cop turning around. So I hid under a car and the cop circled the restaurant but couldn't locate me.

I call bullshit on bighitsunday. He looks like the description on every dispatch call ever. Even if they didn't catch him that night, they'd find his Green Mile ass eventually.

1) On Six Forks I made a right out my neighborhood and floored it bc I was testing a new mod I put on my Integra and a cop saw me and pulled a U but I turned on the next neighborhood street off Six Forks and pulled into Crown Oaks apartments and turned the car off and watched him drive by.

2) On Millbrook towards Creedmoor I was flying like 80mph down the windy part near Shelly Lake and the cop saw me and pulled a U so I floored it to Creedmoor and took a right and broke 100 to get away.

3) Got pulled on the 40 heading towards the beach with a group of cars. Cop pointed at me to pull over and he went after the other 3 cars and I was pulled near the off ramp so I just peaced out into that town.

I've also been pulled doing over 100 and the tickets/court after that is not fun to deal with. It's actually a traffic misdemeanor. Also had a friend run from the cops and got caught and charged with a class H Felony.

/self-incrimination.

I was at a party senior year of high school that got broken up. It was at a house way out in the sticks, so when the cops showed up most everyone, including myself, ran for the woods. After a couple minutes of lying in the dirt and briars with cops and flashlights and dogs all around me, I decided to hike back to the house and turn myself in.
