for years we had 2 cats and no litter box. We only got one when the cats got old and lost some hearing so they didn't go out as much.

now I'm catless for nearing 2 years.


and yes, people with big dogs have much worse smells in their house. and you have to walk them regardless of weather or time of day, and pick up their shit, which is bigger and nastier. The worst I had to do with my cats was let them out before I went to bed and let them back in when I wake up.

arm and hammer cat litter...the DUAL ACTION kind...for both fecal AND urine smells (why normal cat litter isn't for both, i don't know) really works wonders

also, a covered litter box can help

also, if you fucking clean your cat's litter box (once a day and then take it OUTSIDE), it won't smell

BTW, in case you tried to paint me as an animal hater, an animal hater wouldn't stop kids from hurting animals, or say stuff like this (Lounge):


Anybody who damages/kills fauna or flora for fun is morally repugnant and fucked up in the head and should be taught a lesson one way or another (counseling, fines, imprisonment, etc, depending on the severity).

I abhor people who kill damage/kill living things for fun, or torture them while killing them for a legit reason, be it moths, lizards, squirrels, dogs, deer, sharks, whales, trees, shrubs, etc.

Destroying living beings for fun is never 'cool' or 'ok', and is always morally repugnant. If you want to take the life of a living being for a legit reason (food, materials, defense, protecting others, whatever), do it quickly and without taking some kind of sadistic pleasure.


BTW, it is BECAUSE I love animals and living things that I am against keeping animals as pets. That includes cats, dogs, hamsters, mice, snakes, fish, birds, whatever. Keeping fish and birds is the worst, as they are confined to a tiny space. Eventually all pets should be eliminated by a slow and gradual reintroduction into the wild, all over the world.

It is quite haughty and presumptuous of humans to think that they can give a better life to animals by giving them a cement/brick house, toys, and canned food. IMO, keeping a pet is necessarily 'cruel' no matter how much they are loved and cared for and fed, as it is against their intrinsic nature (which sadly has been nearly wiped out by selective breeding programs to create 'perfect' pets).
