when I was in middle school, I won tickets to the first "home" game for the panthers (in death valley)

and I've won those 499 dollar "phone card" lotto things at the bars a couple of times. I haven't put in nearly enough to win it, just gotten really lucky when I do. The last time, I was losing at golden tee, got pissed and walked over and just threw a dollar in it (hoping I could get a 10 dollar ticket and justify buying tall strong drink with it) and a 499 came out.

those are the only things that are coming to my head right now that are complete luck (I've won plenty of things that require skill)

I didn't win it, but when I was in HS my mom won a brand new Saturn through some mall giveaway thing down in Fayetteville. I was like 2 months from getting my drivers license and would have gotten it if my stepdad hadn't knocked her up, forcing them to sell it and buy a minivan

I won Dave Matthews tickets to a concert in Miami a few years ago though...

I won a Best Buy gift card once for getting the most people to register for NCSU related website a while back that I'm sure is long dead by now. I can't remember how much it was for. Maybe $150 or so?

I've also won some prizes at work from the contest drawing we have along with our annual Thanksgiving potluck. Got a prize package with an Ipod shuffle, a $50 gift card, some pizza hut gift cards, a small grill, and some random snacks and dvds. So all together that package was maybe higher.

I can think of several other instances of winning stuff, but nothing else worth that much.

The only big thing I can think of was a AMD Athlon XP 1600 and Giga-Byte motherboard when the Athlon XPs were just coming out. I think it was worth around $400.

I won a cooler at my company party. Actually I gave my ticket to my girlfriend because I never win anything and then I took it from her after she won.

And one time my mom won this drawing that had some Oakley sunglasses so I got to rock those for about 2 months before someone stole them out of my truck. It was probably a good thing.

Nothing over $5 on a scratch off so far.

Hoping to pull in a little from the superbowl pool. That would be 10/10. We put in for 4 pools (each quarter - $10 total investment) - win a quarter and I can complete my emergency fund with a little left over. Anything more than that and I can dang near pay off a credit card Definitely put me in the pay off in 1-2 month range.

$200 through city-data.com photo entry. Also won a couple other photo related contests but the prizes were give-a-ways or just recognition.

When I was a kid, maybe 11 or 12, my mom and I went to her company picnic. They drew names from a hat and you got to pick envelopes off a board. Most had tickets for prizes like hats, shirts, or other junk, but a few had cash. Between the two of us we picked 4 cash envelopes and won almost $200. We went home to eat before going out that evening to blow the money and I closed a window on my thumb and had to go get 4 stitches instead
