Hey guys. When I was at State, I had two good choices, Grand Asia and A&C.
Well, now that I'm in a new area, I was looking for an asian supermarket in either Winston Salem (preferably) or Greensboro. Seeing as how there are quite a few users from those areas, I was wondering if anyone knew of some good places.
I found what looked like a small market in Winston Salem, called Oriental Oasis, but I don't know if it is any good, and it's a bit of a drive for me (not much of a problem, I just don't want to waste my time if it sucks). I'm looking mainly for a market that targets Chinese people.
Any help would be appreciated. 2/6/2011 12:55:09 PM |

I regularly went to a supermarket called Lotte Plaza in Northern Virginia, apparently they are a scattered chain. Always had the freshest and cheapest produce, including lots of things I didn't even recognize... 2/6/2011 1:38:03 PM |

Oriental Oasis has been around a long time. It's a little small, but definitely worth a look. They have a lot for Chinese/Thai/Japanese. It's the only such place I know of in Winston. 2/6/2011 4:03:34 PM |

Don't hold your breath on that. They're banned in NC. Only reason I know that is I emailed the sweet potato council and asked lol. Has to do with a pest problem. Farmers market had purple sweet potatoes this fall but not the same taste

There is another Asian super market just down the road from Oriental Oasis on peters creek parkway: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=15303034547952054312&q=grocery&gl=us&hl=en&dtab=0&ie=UTF8&ll=36.080158,-80.259633&spn=0,0&t=h&z=19
It has some different things than the oriental oasis.I would consider both decent or typical asian supermarkets, but I'm no expert on the subject. It would at least make the drive more worth it since you can go to both easily. 2/7/2011 9:39:52 AM |
