What might happen if one were to have a page(s) torn out/missing from a passport?

You have to replace a passport that is damaged. Torn pages qualifies as damaged. I believe you have to meet in person to return your damaged passport. This is not the kind you can just do via mail.

^i would think that you would need to know if it was damaged before you try to go somewhere where it's needed

Trust me, getting to the airport then realizing you can't use your passport REALLY sucks. Not only did I miss my flight (and subsequently 2 days of my trip), but I had to fly to NOLA to have it fixed.

Basically, get it fixed.

I've read that some countries stamp a piece of paper instead of your passport for this very reason. I think I was reading about someone visiting Iran.

I figured that's what y'all are talking about.

That's fraud. And they can interrogate you for missing or damaged pages just the same.

I think it's best to just suck it up and get interrogated. Or, if it's like a one-time thing, just say you lost it but make sure you have a bunch of stuff on hand to prove citizenship--like a copy of your passport's ID page, copy of your birth certificate, etc...

^Cuba does what disco_stu is taking about. Like, you buy a separate card and they stamp that (not your passport). My friend went a couple years ago, and I envisioned him riding up in the night on a speed boat like in Miami Vice, but you just fly in like regular and they keep the stamp off your pp.

Of course, if you are going to Iran, make sure you don't have any Israel stamps on your passport before hand.
